I’ve never been able to properly succeed - normally a mashy mash! What are your tips and tricks and good recipes? The easier the better.

This one is really nice:
I substitute the chickpeas for butter beans so they're nice and moist.

No. And I cook a lot and have tried lots of different recipes.

I recently discovered these. Now I don't bother to make my own.

The main problem with bean burger is they fall apart.

I do a black bean, walnut and mushroom. I fry out the black beans in the oven, use dried, soaked and squeezed shiitake mushrooms, 2 dsp of flax seed, and always fry in a cooking ring.

*fry out in the oven

Grrr DRY

There's a reason that burgers are made of.beef.

Just eat horrible processed veggie alternatives instead.

I use a recipe similar to this
www.food.com/recipe/vegan-lentil-burgers-224363 but I recommend chilling between shaping and frying.

You can swap the breadcrumbs for more oats. And the type/colour of lentils will determine how much water you need (ie maybe follow the packet for that bit). If it's too mushy to shape add more oats!

Admittedly a bit bland, but very very easy. And being only two essential ingredients, once you've got the consistency you can pretty much swap out the spices/veg to whatever you fancy (mine get a lot of paprika).

This one is fantastic, not dry, doesn't fall apart, very tasty, and freezes well: www.recipetineats.com/veggie-burgers/

I make bean burgers by mashing a can of chickpeas and a can of kidney beans, drained of course. Mix with some fried diced onion (optional), some spices, a beaten egg, and some breadcrumbs or panko. Shape them by hand and then put them in the fridge for a bit to firm up. Fry for about 5 minutes a side. They don't fall apart and are very tasty.
