Do any of your kids have any ‘businesses’ to make some money?

Dd is 12, and a bit of an entrepreneur. She is always researching things she could make or do to sell, which we encourage as a concept.

This got me thinking, do any of your kids do similar? Are any of them successful?!

Crochet.

I know it's not what you're asking but it's what I'd do if I could be bothered.

We bought our Guinea pigs from the teen daughter of a local farmer. She breeds them, does piggy petting and does holiday boarding. Quite niche but she is great!

My 13 yo dd is similar OP.

She has started her own craft business during school holidays! Only had one customer so far, but its a start 😉

My DS used to sell sweets at school when he was 13/14. He saved it all, and had enough to buy and insure his first car.

My DD sells jewellery that she makes through an online shopping platform, and has made quite a bit from this, especially round Christmas time. However, she's not a saver, and has spent most of hers!

A friend's son has raised several £1000 by buying sweets wholesale and selling them in little pick n mix bags at school fairs, after clubs etc. He has an FB page.

Lego sets. (young adult) DS saved up £8k initially... now watches a lot of videos and watches prices on websites, about which themes have held value well, which sets are due to retire soon, which characters (mini figures) have done very well, which ones are now selling for 5x or 10x (or more, or less than) their original price. He is always torn whether to build or keep unopened any set he buys.

I half discourage him but honestly, with inflation running at almost 20% (soon), he may be a very canny investor after all.

DS started doing this & made about £80 in his first couple of weeks - but he got busted by his head of year so had to stop. He was gutted. He's desperate to make more cash.

Mine used to wash cars and shovel snow when they where younger
kept them in sweets and cinema tickets

Not one of mine but a friend's daughter used to take really good photos and make them into greetings cards, selling them in packs of five with envelopes. I think she did quite well.

I also used to know a teen who made a lot of money busking.

Face-painting for kids birthday parties,
She is good at art and good with kids and good at painting quickly on wiggly faces.
Mostly shared around by word of mouth but she has an instagram page for it now and she does a lot of school fairs in the summer
