Big anniversary ideas - with newborn

It’s our 15yr anniversary coming up soon and stumped with what to do to celebrate it. We will have a 2 month old baby who is currently very fussy in the evenings so planning to go out doesn’t seem like a wise idea but the thought of getting a takeaway or cooking a steak dinner seems a little bland when those are things we do for a regular treat anyway.

Is there some kind of super posh takeaway we could get? Any ideas to make it is a bit more special? (even if some of it is spent bouncing a grouchy baby?)

We had our anniversary with our first born back in March. She was only 4 days off. Both of us where zombies 🤣

I'd say a lovely take away maybe from a nice Italian restaurant, little wine, candles & a movie!

If you're stuck for ideas on gifts, Etsy is amazing!

Congratulations x

As a treat DH and I would have a late lunch when we had new borns and timed it for nap time. They would sleep in their pram (or a sling for DS1 who never slept if he couldn’t touch me Hmm). Could you plan something like that?

You could have a chef come to your house & cook for you?
we’ve not done it but some of our neighbours have; the chef sets up an outdoor kitchen at the front of the house !

Sunshine1235 · 21/08/2022 23:30

@CoffeeNeeded2019 I did joke to DH that maybe we could do that, but then thought it would probably be weird having someone in our house. I might do some googling though to see what the options are. Interesting that the chef sets up outside!

@karmakameleon we have other young children and no local daytime childcare so sadly I don’t think a day date would work.

@MummaB22 that kind of thing is usually our go to option for a date night and we do enjoy it. Maybe I need to do some more searching to see if I can find a different take away option to our usual Indian

How about one of the meal delivery services? I've had 4 or 5 of the Rick Stein boxes, all amazing, also Aktar at Home (curry and the steak box) and Diahpatch (various) and have heard great things about Hawksmoor

Verbena87 · 21/08/2022 23:44

Aktar at home is glorious.

Do you have any specific place that is meaningful for you both or just has a really good kitchen? If so, get a delivery from it. An outdoor kitchen is a good suggestion, too, though I've never heard of this one. Definitely check if this is an option, it sounds really great! Also here is a list of ideas for an anniversary at home, could be helpful if you are looking for some activities to do.
