Heel Pain

Mumma29 · 21/08/2022 21:11

Hey, has anyone experienced severe heel pain which is so painful when touched, very painful when I walk and throbs when at rest. Should I get it checked at a + e or will I be wasting my time?

Have you done anything to fracture it ?
If not I’d try painkillers, thick soled/supportive shoes, and elevating it for a day or two.

I knew a girl who fractured her heel off when jumping off a high wall. She needed surgery to have it reattached.

Where is the pain? At the back of the heel or the sole of the heel?

I play football and have had the pain after matches on a Sunday. It is more swollen than my left heel and throbs when at rest. I have recliners which I elevate on. I can't sit all day and rest as have kids 😂

It could be Plantar Fascitis.

Underneath or at the back? Could be Plantar Fasciitis or Tendonitis

Depends where the pain? Back of your heel or underneath? Assuming you can't idenifiy an injury; back might mean your Achilles is tight, especially if its worse after activity. Underneath could mean plantar fasciitis.

My plantar fasciitis was pain in the heel after rest, and I could then walk it off.

The pain is at the base of the heel but throbbing on the inside part if that makes sense. I am using Innersoles but they aren't easing the pain much

Could well be plantar fasciitis- it is very, very common..and excruciating. Suggest you go to a physio first and get it checked out, unless you’ve sustained an injury in which case go to A and E first.
if it’s plantar fasciitis it takes anything up to a year or 18 months to go away with exercises- but it does eventually. You can also help with good shoes and insoles.

if you are concerned it is an emergency then I would call 111 and ask to speak to oncall GP. If it is not an emergency then I would recommend a physio. So many different issues can cause similar pain in heel/foot and it’s important to know what is the actual cause to have effective treatment. Hope it settles soon.

It sounds like plantar fasciitis. Ibuprofen gel, a frozen water bottle or tennis ball to roll your foot on helps. Do not walk around in bare feet. I keep sliders by the bed so that I don't have the hideous first thing pain. See your GP.
