If you regularly have gel nails

I had gel nails done recently.
they looked fab for two weeks and the third week ok, not quite as shiny and a little rough just before I took them off myself with acetone.
no problems with nails underneath.

I really liked the look and how they felt. Not extensions or anything like that. Just lovely shiny colour over my own natural nails. I just don’t have the time to regularly apply polish. My also usually very short nails seemed to grow quickly when the gel was on. They seemed in better condition.

im thinking about making the commitment to getting them done constantly, it would be an expense of probably £70-£80 per month.

what I’m cautious about is do they damage your nails longer term?
ive heard a lot about damage to the nail bed. Is this permanent? Or if nails are weakened is it temporary and they regain strength, should you decide to stop having the gel applied?

Are there any other issues I haven’t considered, If I was to have this treatment regularly.

Ask for builder gel or gel in a bottle next time, lasts a lot longer!

I pay 25 a month roughly and have been having them done for about 3 years. They are fine, strong and growing really well!!

to be around £7/£8 on ebay so actually same price as i’ve been paying anyway. i will persevere !

I have mine done every 2 weeks. I started when I had an iron deficiency and my nails got weak and looked awful. It was supposed to be temporary until the iron tablets kicked in but I love having my nails done so I’ve kept on going. They put a strengthing base coat on underneath and my nails are totally fine. They possibly would look a little different if I stopped but only for as long as it took for nail to grow out so totally worth it for me. Not all nail places are equally good though so may sure you are happy with where you go. My nail beds are totally fine.

I only have my toenails done (I can’t reach past my fat stomach to do them myself!). I pay £20 a time for removal of the old gel and fresh gel applied. I find it last me 5 weeks. I don’t have it all year round, just between April and October when I might have my feet out.

Gels don’t damage my finger nails but do
my toe nails so I get normal polish on my toes.

Depends on the brand and how they're removed. You don't want them taken off with the electric buffer but, rather, the brand's own acetone-free liquid remover. I've used Biosculpture for almost 16 years. I understand that this brand allows more oxygen through to the nail bed than many others and so is better for nails. My previously weak nails are strong. I get them done every 2.5-3 weeks.
