Who replaces community defibulators after they've been used

When 999 operators tell you to go and get the community defibrillator and bring it to your house just in case it needs to be used who returns it? What happens if it has been used?

Pretty sure they usually have a guardian who will collect it from wherever it is and check it and clean and put it back

So the paramedics just leave it in the house after they've gone? What would happen if someone else in the area rings 999 and is told to go and collect the nearest one but it is already at someone's house?

Highly unlikely to happen but just the same as if it was already in use, you would need to find another one...

That is an interesting question.

A quick Google says that you need to clean the unit up, replace any used bits (such as pads, razors), and take it back to where you got it from. That seems a big ask for someone in the community who may have had to use it on a loved one.

I used to work for an ambulance trust, they have a team who go out and sort them. They restock the pads etc or replace them when expired too.

That is good to know.

There should be a number written on the box to call. It depends who is responsible for it, usually it is linked to the ambulance service, but obviously not the paramedics, they need to stay focused on the patient. Occasionally a school or business might have paid for it and be responsible for replacing pads etc

We have one in our village that 'the village' bought. A team is responsible for its upkeep. If it is used, the ambulance service phone one of the team who goes and sorts it out.

Usually whoever supplied it does the battery check, replacement pads etc.

The ones in our village are all paid for and maintained by the parish council. I think the pads and other bits need replacing at intervals anyway so its an ongoing thing, plus it needs checking regularly, you can't just buy one and leave it.
