Just being curious. I have been using the BBC weather app for many years, I'm sick of it being wrong, and have flounced and deleted.

Met Office.

Bookmark the met office in my browser for my town. It's more accurate than any apps and such ime.

Met Office app ever since they lost the contract with the BBC. Don't know who the BBC uses now but it's always wrong.

Thinkbiglittleone · 20/08/2022 19:42

Met office

MrsRhodes · 20/08/2022 19:43

Met office. Dh uses the one that is on his phone (not sure which but one that come installed on androids) - mine is much more accurate.

Blackdiame · 20/08/2022 19:45

Metoffice for the widget to see the general predicted weather at a glance but Ventusky for actual detail of temps, windscreen, rainfall etc which is much more accurate.

LittleLlama · 20/08/2022 20:04

Another vote for the Met Office App.

Weather station, pretty accurate 👌

I read some speculation the other day that, when people get their weather from the BBC, if they’re caught out by it (eg it rained and they didn’t have a brolly), they get cross with the BBC. So as a result the BBC prefers a forecast that predicts to the extremes slightly more (tells you it’s going to rain when there’s actually only a slim chance of it, predicts less cloud coverage so people take sunscreen etc), because fewer cross people = better public perception of the BBC which it always needs. Sounds like conspiracy theory nonsense but it was an interesting thought!

Met Office - I use the widget thing on my iPhone.

Met office

ToooOldForThis · 21/08/2022 10:34

I always used the met Office, but switched to accuweather this year while camping as it gives an hourly breakdown, it was really accurate over the summer.

chipsandpeas · 21/08/2022 10:37

the weather channel - as its what comes with the iphone weather app, i find it pretty accurate

YumEitherWay · 21/08/2022 10:40

www.xcweather.co.uk

it’s the most accurate one I’ve found.

TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination · 21/08/2022 10:43

I like the iPhone weather thing it comes with, it's nicer to view & can load various locations.

However, the met office app seems much more accurate. They use different models.

@ohyoubadbadkitten might pop in for a better explanation if she has time?!

You could do a scientific experiment for us OP.

Download all the weather apps for aay a fortnight or a month and every day at say 3pm or whenever look outside at the weather ans then check which provider has got it right and give them a tick or a cross for each day and at the end tell us the results.
