I'm just making a cuppa to enjoy, in peace and quiet, before I get the girls up to go to town.

The washer's on & I've tidied round a bit so there's not much to do housework wise.

We're on the hunt for a-line school skirts, and school shoes, for dd1. We tried Asda the other day but they didn't have any of the bigger sizes on the racks 🤷‍♀️ I think we might have to order online though.

We'll pop into Primark too, more than likely, and nip to the fruit and veg stall on the market.

When we get in, the girls are likely to carry on watching Gilmore Girls & I'll either carry on disecting Cain's Jawbone or get out my crochet for an hour. I'm 1/4 of the way through a cardi for myself & dd2 has my next project lined up for me 🤣She wants me to make her a Taylor Swift cardigan like dd1's.

Not a clue what's for tea yet, maybe pasta 🤔 I'll have a glass of wine with whatever we have, and follow it with fruit and ice cream for afters 😋

What about all of you? 🙂

DH is working until 3, I have just made packed lunches and will get our two boys dressed and sorted to go to our local soft play for a couple of hours. We have annual passes and have no other plans today so might as well let them burn some energy while I read a book. My children can't do indoor days without killing each other by the afternoon so we always go out even for an hour. Myself and DH have had a tiring week so it's a takeaway tonight. We might also take a walk on the beach later.

pumpkinpie01 · 20/08/2022 10:06

@Chelsea26 ooooh that sounds nice !

iklboo · 20/08/2022 10:14

Lazy morning with DH. Just had bacon rolls & coffees delivered from Greggs. He's got one pupil for a driving lesson in a couple of hours.

I'm beta reading a book for one author - nearly finished so will type the findings up and send that across to him, then start the next one I've got.

Going to watch Nope later with DH & DS.

My 2 DS at mums for weekend, just taken daughter to work. I've just having a cup of tea and a Danish pastry having Hoovered and mopped downstairs. Just catching up on social media, Put the dishwasher on and a load of washing. I'm a home Dog Boarder - so i'm about to start walking - 3 dogs boarding with me along with my two, so I'll split that up into two walks. Lovely basset hound arriving at lunchtime. Need to do a food shop at some point today then hoover and tidy upstairs. No idea what's for tea tonight just me and DD, so we'll see.

PPop · 20/08/2022 10:19

I am doing nothing much all day, my partner is off on his stag so all on my own all day with the dogs! We will probably go out to the garden and do some gardening and then decide if they need a walk - gardening means they tend to zip about like loonies 😂

ofHardey · 20/08/2022 11:02

Taking my 3 dds for their swimming lessons.

Then back home to feed the girls, hang out some washing, clean the house and maybe do some ironing. But all at a very slow and relaxed pace, with the radio on and the girls chilling (hopefully!)

My period is due tomorrow but the chances of it coming today are high, I'm not in the best of moods but not ragingly hormonal which is an improvement for me !

PhantomErik · 20/08/2022 11:33

We had a lovely lie in, washing's now out on the line & having a cup of tea.

After lunch we're heading to the beach for a few hours then home for showers etc. DD13 is then off for a sleepover, so we'll let DS12 & 10 choose a film to watch tonight.

When they go to bed DH & I will probably watch a couple of you tube vlogs of places we're planning to visit on our next holiday-it helps with planning & is fun 🙂

TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination · 20/08/2022 11:59

@lucysmam your weekends always sound great!
@Simonjt congratulations on doing so well in the rugby!! How's DS doing with DD? Hope you all have a lovely time on the trail!!

envious of you all that are bear enough for beach visits!! I miss it so much!!

lots of other nice days planned! 😊

me, late night then awake with foxes at 3am. Dozed off about 4:30. Neighbours dog asking for a walk at 5am. He's only 11 months and gorgeous, so no complaints, but less than happy about how dark it is now at 5am. Tried to doze a bit more after Rover got taken out, but no luck, so basically had NO sleep.

I'm second cup of coffee in, but it's not helping, I should probably down some water & go for a walk, but I WANT to walk along the sea front (nearest 2 hours away <sob>)

loads & loads of housework/renovation/paperwork I should be doing, but cba.

(no kids here, so none being neglected)

neighbours toddlers playing out on our shared (very safe) unused parking area on their ride a longs,, very very cute, but neighbour in between us is a miserable fart who will be complaining 'children should be taken out to the park, not playing out here'. Old fun sponge!!

FayeGovan · 20/08/2022 12:03

Im working

ThreeRingCircus · 20/08/2022 13:07

DH looked after our DDs this morning while I went to the gym.

I came home, showered then we started packing as flying to Spain on Monday for holiday.

We've just been pottering round the house otherwise but going over to MILs later for dinner. Hoping DDs will behave (they're 5 and 3) so DH and I can chill with a glass of wine!

grayhairdontcare · 20/08/2022 14:19

Deep cleaned everything and emptied the washing.
Getting ready for friends coming today to watch boxing

Simonjt · 20/08/2022 14:24

@TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination Pretty good, things were tricky at first which was expected, once we knew she was going to remain with us it was easier as it meant he was no longer worried he might go back. As he is such a good big brother he has decided she needs mario lego for her birthday, as she is too young to play with it he has kindly offered to play with it on her behalf. How very very selfless 🤣

lucysmam · 20/08/2022 17:45

Sorry for the late reply@AdaColeman; we haven't been in long. I've matched the poems so far, and am making notes on various other aspects (narrators/quotes/other people/places) in a scruffy notebook for now...the girls are still on their first read through before we take it apart...I'm quite ready to take it to pieces and start writing on the book itself & have several pages noted that I think go together. But it's hard to put together, to see if they work, without being able to take it apart yet 🤣

Did the food shop this morning, then watched a couple of episodes of Downton Abbey (trying to rewatch it all before its removed from Netflix next Saturday), cooked dinner and made oat biscuits at the same time (trying to multitask when the oven is on to make the most of the money I'm spending on the electric!), watched a few episodes of Bluey with the children and now I'm trying to decide whether to go for a walk in the forest or sit down with a cold beer. Its too hot here, so maybe I'll just go sit in the basement to cool down.

lucysmam · 20/08/2022 17:58

I hit send too soon 🙈

@Simonjt it sounds like the baby's fitted into your family perfectly...super early starts and all! Your ds sounds like my oldest would be with dd2 🤔

@TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination we don't really do much but we all enjoy a wander round the market & calling at our favourite greengrocers stall. Dd1's looking forward to the fresh cranberries 😋 Surprisingly, they didn't pick anything we'd not already tried, today!

Uniform shopping was not very successful. Dd2 has boots she's happy with but no navy tights to be had in Primark & I'm not keen on £8 for two pairs in M&S so we'll check Asda when we go to the outdoor cinema on Thursday. Dd1 couldn't find shoes or a skirt she's happy with so; at this point, will either make do with last year's, find them online herself for me to order, or go to school naked 🤷‍♀️

I'm having a lazy day in. I got home from holiday yesterday and slept for nearly 12 hours last night! (It was on the Isle of Wight, so no jet lag or anything, although I think the hour long bus journey from Waterloo to Euston did me in. The traffic in London was nuts yesterday!) Travelling always makes me tired. I had marmite and cream cheese sandwiches for breakfast, blueberry pancakes with strawberry ice cream for lunch, and I'm having pasta for tea. Smile

mathanxiety · 20/08/2022 18:25

Had a lie in, made a pot of tea, cleaned the bathtub and the rest of the bathroom, now about to dust, polish, hoover and mop before DS gets in from his morning shift in A&E and collapses into bed, and tackle DD4's bedroom floor before she gets back from a morning with her friends. Later I'll make tiramisu for a DD's birthday and pick up another DD from the airport. I'll also put in a load of bedding. I have a 'cleaning' Spotify list blasting on my Alexa. Good times. I love having the place to myself.

AdaColeman · 20/08/2022 19:25

@lucysmam
Thanks so much for replying. I've read up about it now as I'd never heard of it, and it sounds so interesting a project! Just the sort of thing to fill those long winter evenings.

Ladyof2022 · 20/08/2022 20:10

Gosh I do envy you all your happy, busy lives with family and friends.

Today I roasted two chicken crowns to keep in the fridge to provide the meat for my daily salad for the next four days.

I spent the afternoon continuing to research and write the biography of a suffragette. I'm over half-way through the task now.

I sub to Amazon Movies so in the evening I'm watching "Spencer" - another film about "Lady Di".

Blackdiame · 20/08/2022 20:13

I went for a walk around a nearby reservoir which was pretty low and i could walk across the bottom of it in some places. Stopped off at a cafe on the way back home and had a slice of delicious chocolate orange cake with tea. Now just watching crap telly till bedtime. I think I'll cracked on with some sewing tomorrow.

How incredibly selfless of him!! I'm so pleased it's working out for him & you all. Big hugs xx

Lying by a pool listening to the waves crashing on the beach. It’s 35 degrees, blue sky with a few fluffy clouds and a light breeze. I’m sipping a margarita and waiting for my fish tacos to arrive. It’s glorious although I have to go in and pack soon as we’re moving on tomorrow.

lucysmam · 20/08/2022 21:56

@AdaColeman it was supposed to be a summer hols project but both girls have been sidetracked by Gilmore Girls (and comparing me to Loralei Gilmore 🙄...right down to my dress sense & singing in public habits 🤣). It will nicely fill the evenings after school though when they tend to come in & hover around me with no real purpose.

@mathanxiety I like the idea of a tea pot very much. It seems like it'd be nice for a weekend morning when I'm up before everyone else & like to sit, in the silence, with a cup of tea to start the day.

@Ladyof2022 your day sounds nice and steady. Sometimes busy is over-rated 🙂

@Blackdiame what are you sewing? Dd2 asked me the other day if I could sew one of the costumes from Cruella & I'm half toying with taking up the challenge. I haven't made anything technically difficult in a looooong while though!

@lucysmam

it always just sounds so lovely. I still struggle to think of them as older than when you were making the frozen dresses!

If this warm weather continues, if DD1 goes naked she'll be much more comfortable than those in winter tights, shoes & winter skirts!!

ooh what's on at your outdoor cinema?? I can't remember what was on at ours now, but it was something that really didn't inspire me (Bridget Jones maybe?!). I might have another look, to see if I'm in a different mood about it now?!
