Hi, i am a nurse working in a custody suite. I am currently only 10 weeks pregnant however, i feel a little stressed due to a previous pregnant employees treatment with this company. I have tried searching for the rights of nurses working in custody and find very little to nothing online, only the rights of pregnant detainees.
I am the only trained nurse on site and sometimes dealing with volatile detainees. I have a genuine fear that i will be told, i am safe to work up to my due date by management, as the first and only pregnant employee got told. She wasn't offered alternative work and told her if she's not happy with risk assessments then to start her short mat leave early. I want to be prepared for when i am much larger and won't be able to get down on my knees and give CPR or maintain an airway or i am unable to move out of the way of violent detainees. I want to know my rights as i am scared that in a few months i will have to make a choice between keeping my pin as a registered nurse or risking my unborn baby. Does any one have any info at all on this/ been in this situation before?
