Possibly dry socket (again), can I just leave it? And how do I clean it

Third tooth related thread from me, sorry for spamming.

I had the tooth out 2.5 weeks ago, went back 2 days ago as the socket looked infected. Turned out I had dry socket, luckily I didn’t experience the pain usually associated with it (I did have some but it was manageable with painkillers). The dentist poked around to make it bleed again and packed it with clove oil stuff.

The brown packing started coming out slowly after a day. I have no idea if the blood clot is still in there. This morning it still looked dark but now there’s white stuff in there yet again. Not sure if this is food, healing tissue or infection again. I think it’s likely to be food. I have been rinsing with been rinsing with salt since yesterday.

I can’t bear the thought of it being poked again, and then worrying whether the clot will dislodge or not for days after. I’m having another tooth out next week, so I already have that to look forward to.

So, if it is dry socket yet again, and the pain is manageable at home (I have orajel, clove oil, painkillers galore, any other recommendations welcome), can I just leave it to heal on it’s own? Or will that not happen without a clot?

If it’s not dry socket, and the clot is still in there, how do I clean the hole without dislodging it? As I say, I’ve been rinsing (not swishing or spitting) but the white stuff is still in there.

Getting so fed up and tempted to leave my other cracked tooth in, just to avoid being in a bad mood for the rest of summer.

Just leave it alone. Also if it was a true dry socket you would have been in complete agony. Warm salt water mouth rinses and painkillers. Eat on the other side. Should do the trick. (Dental nurse in oral surgery)

Thanks, that’s what I’ve been doing but dentist still said I had it.

Yep.

The best way to heal the extraction site is to take medication as instructed and leave it the hell alone.

If you had dry socket, you'd be crying in pain.

Firstly I don’t think anyone on a forum can tell you that you didn’t have dry socket when the dentist told you that was the issue!!

Ive just returned from the dentist and have an infected dry socket, the dentist has given me antibiotics and said to leave well alone aside the salt bathing and it will heal on its own. Hopefully you’re sorted now and feeling better as it really is miserable!

I had my tooth extraction since last week it’s Tuesday and now we’re on Monday so tomorrow is my first week from extraction however I can’t feel the healing process. Any thoughts about this? I took a pic and it’s kinda painful
