Can I prune a wild rose (with hips) NOW, then move it?

I need to prune back a wild rose bush (in hip) and move it in the garden to make way for a fence. Is now a bad time of year to do it?

I'm not sure, I would wait if possible. You could ask this to be moved to the gardening section, lots of knowledgeable people there.

I think most plants will already be pretty stressed at this time of the year with the drought. You should generally move plants like that in winter when they're dormant I think.

If you can wait a few weeks until it is cooler - autumn is the best time to move established plants.

Really you should only move roses when they are dormant, after their leaves have fallen off.
