If you had a week away…

In Oct/Nov/Dec, no kids, where would you go?
Dh and I are celebrating 20 years together this year and are treating ourselves to a week away somewhere, my sister is going to move in to be with the kids (they’re not really young but they’d need someone around over the week, they love her and her boyfriend so I’m pleased they’ll have a lovely time), we just don’t know where. We have discussed Cape Verde (is there much to do?), Greek island (too much like something we might do with the kids?) and can’t really make any decisions!
We like a bit of pool time, not too fussed about beach, do like being by the sea but it’s not a deal breaker, like a bit of sightseeing, boat trip somewhere maybe, I don’t know - too much choice is making us indecisive!

What do you like to do on holiday? Are you 5star luxury resort or camel ride and hiking people? How important is food and what are your favourite cuisines? Will it be late waking, books and sunbathing or tours and experiences?

Well eg on our last trip we did without the kids 5 years ago we went to The Gambia, a couple of the days we spent by the pool and went out in the evenings for dinner, the other days we were out and about, safari into Senegal, he went fishing for barracuda and I went to see crocodiles, we went to the market (what an experience!), just kept busy but nothing too strenuous. Couldn’t lie by the pool for a whole week. It was far enough that it felt like we’d really gotten away but not too far to travel for just a week.
It’s a rare occurrence that we have time together away from the dc so would like something quite special. No early starts though thanks 😂

I feel like I keep saying this on MN but… consider Marrakech :)

Lots of sightseeing, some gorgeous hotels - you could split between a riad in the medina and a swish hotel in the more modern part. Or you could spend a few days in the Atlas Mountains, or even do a desert side trip. We’ve been in October and December and had lovely sunny weather both times, warmer in Oct but Dec was still blue skies and warm in the middle of the day (chilly ams and pms). Shortish flight and no jetlag!

I don’t think anywhere in Europe is reliable weather wise at that time. You might get lucky but you really might not. Cyprus is probably the best weather option in Europe but it would have to be October.

Go a cruise - best of both worlds relaxing in luxury but with some nice sight seeing too

You could think about South Africa. It's a long way for a week but no real time difference. Stay in Stellenbosch and Cape Town. I love Stellenbosch.
