Growing old gracefully?

Looking at pictures in the media of Carol Vorderman, who is the same age as me prompted me to ask the question should people (usually women) really work.so hard to try and look 20 years younger?
Nothing wrong with keeping fit and healthy IMHO, but I just don't think I have the energy to ty looking like a goddess every day!! I've embraced my middle age spread and accepted that aging face that looks back at me I the mirror!! Anyone else feel the same?

I don’t try to look like a goddess. I’m accepting that I’m older.
For example I don’t dye my grey, I wear light make up rather than glam & my hair is usually scrunched up in a hair band. However, I do focus on mobility movements so I can keep agile, I don’t want to become an immobile old lady, and I absolutely look after my diet and calories to keep trim.

I've embraced my middle age spread

Me too! I really don't care. I was actually thinking similar when I saw the pictures you're talking about. I spent enough years of my life stressing about my looks. Now I just don't think about it. I'm early 50's, if someone said I looked 45, 55 or even 65, it wouldn't affect me at all. So what? What does it even matter? I could do with upping my exercise a bit for my own health, which I'm working on. But I actually find it really liberating not to worry about how I look.

I work to keep fit and healthy. At 59 I run and practice karate. But I wouldn't have cosmetic surgery and am relaxed about the occasional slice of cake or ice cream.

I'm not as slim as I was in my 20s but then who is?

As long as I can remain healthy & active, that will be enough for me.

Unfortunately women are judged harshly for ageing.
Personally I’m not keen on the Botox and fillers look, but each to their own.
I certainly couldn’t be bothered to spend hours upon exercising, doing my hair and makeup.
I colour my hair, have decent skincare routine and rarely wear makeup, I’m 55, don’t have wrinkles, think I look ok. Fitness is great but age is age.

My parents were completely sedentary as long as I can remember, were aging by their forties and just got fatter, flabbier and less active over the decades. They have had long lives and didn’t want to be active - their choice!

I decided I would stay as active as I could for as long as possible, am now mid fifties and weigh the same as when I was at university and exercise every day - not because of peer pressure but because I like it.

I don’t want to look younger, I actually feel much happier in my fifties then my thirties but I definitely don’t want older to mean slower!

I assumed CV had had some sort of mid life crisis as didn’t she always use to look quite grumpy and suddenly completely changed her looks? I think she looks quite fit on the DM pictures actually. She has maybe overdone the fillers a bit, but she looks strong and happy. I think it’s refreshing to see women still being sexy after 50 and I like that it drives the DM readers crazy 😜

Frumpy not grumpy!

I am growing old disgracefully and worrying every minute. I'd like the youthful body back but not the angst. There's something truly liberating about no longer giving a a flying xxxx

I am not embracing middle age spread no. I try to stay fit and healthy and I would like to look as good as possible. I don’t wear much make up as I think that just ages me. I do have light botox and fillers to add a bit of volume to my face as I am very slim. I am very careful though as I want my face to match my neck and to look natural. My main focus is to stay healthy, but I like to still turn a few heads at 50 I have to admit.

I think it’s nice to see women who do not give in the the middle age spread and refuse to fade into the background.
