Gah. I got too excited thinking I'd get a 2 and did a silly second guess. Although wouldn't have been silly if it had been that word 🤣🤣 Def better than yesterday's anyway.

My mum has sometimes called her favourite knife a parer! However, I wouldn't immediately think that is how it's spelt and dredge it up from the back of mind when doing wordle.

@JaneJeffer I usually say a paring knife, rather than parer. I did think about trying parer, but went with more common words, which was obviously a mistake!

There's a pencil parer too although we always called it a topper when I was at school in the dark ages.

I've heard of a parer and would use it to describe a knife but not in everyday use.

Yesterday was vile! I was struggling with it. Came on here to look how everyone was doing. Went back to it. Was trying to think what it could be. Started doing something else. Forgot about it and forgot to finish it but it looks as though I wouldn't have finished it anyway!

We called pencil sharpeners parers when I was at school in the dark ages in Ireland. So I knew the word but it didn’t enter my head till I saw yesterday’s result.

As for yesterday I'd got parer on my list of possibles but had never heard it used in real life.
I know the verb to pare and know there are paring knives so guessed that parer could be a noun. But had run out of options before using it.

Better word than yesterday! A bit tense at the end though, too many options.
