It's definitely a stand alone word.
Used in very specific circumstances but definitely a valid verb.

Yes I googled it. I would say it slightly differently as a verb as opposed to the noun

Joining the 4 club today. Given how it started, I'm pleased with that. Bit of a random one, but based on what I'd already eliminated and found after line 3, there was nothing else it could be.
