Regarding safety & being out alone etc.

I keep having this irrational fear of something happening which terrifies me and makes me think am i equipping her with everything she needs to protect herself...

Enrol her in a self defence course?

Tell her that her safety is more important than someone's feelings. If she has a gut instinct about someone, eg they scare her for a unknown reason, then she has every right to avoid them, eg not get in a lift alone with them, and who gives a toss about them thinking it's rude.

Never leave the group. Always make sure you have someone to go home with. Book a licensed cab. Don't get too drunk to look after yourself. Never accept drinks from strangers.

Awqs · 18/08/2022 04:56

Ring you if in trouble and you’ll always come and get her no matter what time or what trouble,

FindingMeno · 18/08/2022 06:47

Don't trust the police.

FindingMeno · 18/08/2022 06:48

Always have your phone charged.

KangarooKenny · 18/08/2022 06:49

Telling her to never be alone on a night out, and to never leave her friends alone.
And that she can always ring you for help, no matter what time of day/night.

Ridelikethewindypops · 18/08/2022 06:52

Stay with your friends no matter what, and don't let any friend wander off on her own either.

FindingMeno · 18/08/2022 06:52

Always have awareness of where your drink is and how it arrived.
Never get in a car with someone you suspect isn't 100% straight and sober.

ItWasJustifiedHeWasACunt · 18/08/2022 06:53

If you MUST do social media follow women like Chloe Kelly and J K Rowling, not Kim Kardashian or some fucking idiot from LI

something2say · 18/08/2022 07:06

If a man calls out in the street:
Know that he is calling to many girls.
Learn to say 'hi!' And not stop, breeze on through.
Dont shut 'Fuck off you pervert!' Because you don't know whether he is unwell and will get angry and follow/harm you.

Buy 'The gift of fear' and discuss the opening chapters.

tiggergoesbounce · 18/08/2022 07:11

Value yourself highly and dont put up with anything less

Trust your instinct
Know SM is bullshit.
Never leave your friends when out
Never accept drinks off anyone else unless you see it poured and passed to you.
Always use a safe cab home

Ring home for anything ever if you feel unsure of anything

allthebikes · 18/08/2022 07:12

I've told my very young DD that if ever she gets lost, try to find someone else's mummy to help you. In grown up speak, find a woman.

Unescorted · 18/08/2022 07:15

That if you are raped

wonderingwhatsnext · 18/08/2022 07:17

Know your mum/dad/best friend's phone number. Helpful if you have your phone stolen, or lose it.

Unescorted · 18/08/2022 07:17

Sorry it post by accident.

If you are raped/assaulted it is not your fault no matter what you were wearing, doing or what you weren't doing. No matter how many people imply otherwise.

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 18/08/2022 07:19

Trust your instincts and follow them not the desire to 'be kind'.

If somewhere or someone feels wrong, move away.

Don't trust the police.

drpet49 · 18/08/2022 08:54

🙄

FindingMeno · 18/08/2022 08:56

@drpet49 what?

Jaguarxxx · 18/08/2022 09:00

As someone else said, never leave the group. Stay together no matter what. Even if you've had a fall out during the night you don't splinter off from each other going home.

Icedlatteplease · 18/08/2022 09:02

I really wouldn't worry about any of being out alone kinda stuff.

Worry about who you date and how much you drink. Your far more likely to engage in risky behaviour if you are drunk and you're more likely to be attacked by someone you know.

If a man really wants to hurt you no amount of self defense is going to help you much.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 18/08/2022 09:04

Never be financially reliable on anyone.
