Tell me your genuine surprises!

I don't think I've ever had a really genuine, lovely surprise.

I guess I was surprised when my husband proposed, but had kind of expected it and the thought had crossed my mind that he might have done it the weekend he did. All of my pregnancies were planned and I started testing before my period was due as I knew there was a good job I had conceived.

I was thinking how I've never had a completely unexpected and joyful surprise, something I didn't see coming. Something that blew me away.

I would love to hear about a surprise you may have had that was totally out of the blue and not expected, but wonderful.

Not keen on surprises, I prefer to be planned.
DS2 was a surprise as DH wanted one where we didn’t know the sec before had.

When we were TTC I took a pregnancy test on the monday (12dpo) and it was completely negative. Not even a HINT of a line. Then wednesday rolls around (14dpo) and I have one test left figured I may as well take it to confirm I wasn't pregnant. Seeing that second line appear was the most surprised I've ever been! We'd been TTC for 3 years and now our baby girl is 14 weeks old 💖

Finding out I was pregnant with my second child after 3 lots of failed ivf - that was a shock! And the best surprise ever!

My lovely husband booked The Fat Duck for my 50th birthday, knowing that I'd always fancied going there.

He also made my xmas the year he got me a zoom lens for my much-loved camera, even though wherever we go I yell at him for walking into my shot :-)

Back in 1994 I was 19 and walking near the Israeli embassy in Kensington when the car bomb went off. That was a bit of a surprise.

My grandmother (who lived about an hour and a half away) turned up to my tenth birthday party as a surprise.

Unbeknown to me at the time this was because she already knew it was the last birthday of mine she'd be around to see, which makes it more special in retrospect.

Dc4 was a genuine surprise as DH had, had a vasectomy. A wonderful surprise and I am looking forward to spending time with him this year before he starts school.
one of my dogs was a surprise, we had picked the pup from the litter and gone with DH’s preference. On collection some 5 weeks later I was handed his preferred pup and mine. He had got both unbeknown to me. 12 years later and they are my best friends and I adore them.

Finding out I was pregnant after 6 years of trying and about to start IVF. We went to Malaysia, got drunk and hey presto.
