Places in the lakes for teenagers

Any suggestions where to take a difficult 14 year old in the Lake District. She’s agreed to the sea life centre and she likes shops that sell crystals and whatnot. Anywhere else.
No climbing or extremely physical activities.

No one has mentioned Ulverston yet. Generally not a massively busy place either, which might suit. It has an “alternative” shop and it’s a hippy-ish independent shopping sort of place. The Laurel and Hardy museum is worth a trip and has a small screen cinema with their movies on loop…with popcorn too.

When you say the Sea Life Centre where do you mean. Cumbria has a couple of small aquariums but neither are sea life standard.

Bottom of Windermere? I haven’t been there for 20 years though

Keswick has a fair few independent shops - Maysons and shops in Packhorse Court are good. Also has an independent cinema.

Few nice places to eat, like The Round for burgers.

The Outdoor Picture Palace is at Windermere this weekend, has pizza vans etc.

Yeah it's still there, won't have changed much! Nice enough, has a little tunnel but don't tell her you are going to the sea life centre. If your down there you can always go on the boat across the lake or steam train for something to do. Where are you staying. If its South lakes heading to Kendal is your best option for shops.

Where's the best place to see red squirrels? I'm going to the Lakes next month and I love red squirrels.

Sorry for derailing, op.

Hmm, well we were told to look out for them around Ullswater but spotted none. Randomly saw one in a park in Prague though and it impressed my DD.

You have to sit quietly for ages by a feeder and watch carefully. They don’t like to tear about in full view like the much bolder greys.

Threlkeld mine and quarry - lots of fun panning for gems. Caldbeck is nice for a walk and cafe / fair trade shop. Loughrigg Terrace, Rydal Water caves and bookshop at Grasmere.
