Just that really Grin. Am feeling inspired by the how much you spend on hair stuff per year thread…so I thought I’d make my own. So this is just shower gel/ soap/shampoo/conditioner/deodorant/sanitary stuff/toothpaste/mouthwash etc. not including any skincare, I spend waaaaayyyy too much on that then I’d care to admitBlush

shower gel: £10 pp pa (so around £30 for me, dd and dh)
soap: around £20 pa
shampoo: £15 pp pa
conditioner: na
deo: around £15-20 pp pa
sanitary stuff: maybe £50 for dd and I? (We both get a subscription)
toothpaste: £20 pa
mouthwash: £40 pa

all in all around £250 for 3 of us……

Never thought to add it up and now I’m curious…
shower gel: £25 pm
soap: don’t buy
shampoo: £30 pm
conditioner £30 pm
deo: £8 pm
sanitary stuff: £10 pm
toothpaste: £16 pm
mouthwash: don’t buy

erm, I don’t want to add that up really! In my defence, there are 5 of us, 2 almost adult teen girls, I buy myself a L’Occitane shower oil once a month and my shampoo and conditioner are the bulk of those prices…
I buy an arm and hammer toothpaste for us and a regular tube for the girls bathroom every week.

Hmmm I've never thought about it really but I would say for our family (DH, me, two young DDs):

Bars of soap (we don't use liquid soap/shower gel): Maybe £30 a year? We could get this cheaper as bar soap lasts absolutely ages and you can buy it very cheaply but I like to use "nice" bars as we use it instead of shower gel.

Shampoo/conditioner: £75 a year. DH and DDs use solid shampoo which is cheap but this is pushed up by my shampoo and conditioner as I use a particular one for my dyed hair.

Deoderant: Maybe £30 a year? DH and I both have particular brands we use.

Toothpaste: I'd guess around £20 a year. We don't have a particular brand we just buy whatever is on offer. We're actually using a really cheap Aldi one at the minute and it's fine.

Sanitary products: I'd say £60 a year for tampons, pads and pantyliners. I'd tried a mooncup in the past but can't use them anymore and the environmental waste issue here does bother me..... I haven't found a decent solution yet as found the reusable pantyliners way too bulky. I only buy tampons with cardboard applicators but it's still not brilliant....

So that's £215 a year.

Ah @ThreeRingCircus i use bar soap and bar shampoo (but dh is annoying and simply must use his fancy Pancy bottled shower gel and shampoo
(it’s Molton brown fgs)
dd, however made me use bar soap and shampoo

I’ve never really thought of it over a year
I do a £40 shop every 6 weeks in Hone Bargains but that also includes cleaning stuff so I’d say just over half that amount from your list, £25ish every 6 weeks

That includes 2 shower gels, 2 bubble baths, 1 bar shampoo, 1 bottle of conditioner, 2 hairspray, 1 roll on deodorant each for the 4 of us that use it, 2 toothpastes & 1 mouthwash
I use reusable sanitary products so no spend on those

StressfulBedtimes · 15/08/2022 08:35

6 of us in our house, forgot to add

I’ve never calculated it out.

we don’t use soap.
deodorant, a can each a month so 3 x £1.99
a shower gel each month 3 x 99p
shampoo and conditioner, Aussie stuff so £9, 3 monthly, £3 a month
body moisturiser, Nivea pump bottle £3.99 a quarter, £1 month
toothpaste, £1 month
razors, shaving gel, I’d say £5 a month

That will probably work out at £230 ish a year or so. It really will depend on home bargains prices or B&M. Often things are 3/2 in Tesco or boots. It’s quite difficult to calculate. Doesn’t include hair styling.
