Front tooth extraction

Has anyone had their front tooth removed?
When I was younger I had an accident which resulted in the tooth snapping in half, a cap was put on it until I was 16 when I then had a crown.
At about 17 I had the root canal done due to an infection.
I'm now 25 and have a bad infection in that tooth again. To the point my whole top lip is swollen and it is extremely painful.
I'm not registered at a dentist as I haven't lived in this area very long.
I got an emergency appointment yesterday through 111.
They did an X-ray and said due to how infected it is, I will have to find a dentist and get it removed.
I'm a little worried as it is my front tooth and not sure what the next move would be plus the cost etc.
anyone had any experience please? Smile

Ahh no, really feel for you. I had an infection in the tooth next to my front one (incisor?) a couple of years ago. During first lock down so a bit of a nightmare... Anyway, if it is infected, you should be able to get it removed on the NHS, so not too expensive. You could then look at having an implant. Only available privately I believe and at least £1500. You may be able to have a bridge fitted on the NHS as it is a front tooth. Think this might be around £250ish. I ended up having my tooth removed in a hospital due to level of infection. I then had a temporary removable tooth (on a plate) made which I used for a few months until my mouth settled and then I had a bridge. Had the bridge privately and was pounds as had to have a canine crowned to support it. Good luck 🤞🤞

Thank you @sanfranny
I wasn't too sure if I could have a bridge as I have quite a gap between my front teeth. I would be fine with a plate, I think I would be fine with whatever needs doing. Just panicking a little because it's a front tooth. A back one, I can hide, a front one, not so much haha. Smile

Very similar story to yours; cracked my front tooth as a child, had a crown fitted for years but then the root cracked, infection etc and it had to be removed. I've now got a Maryland bridge.

Thank you @johnworf

Trying to find a dentist that is taking patients is proving difficult 😞 hoping the swelling and pain leaves soon, it is absolute agony today
