@vincettenoir in fairness I was sobbing (I couldn’t help it, I’d just had a little boy and it was a film about a boy going missing, I didn’t realise when booking it) so probably making noise and being a bit disruptive. On the upside DS slept in the sling the whole way through!

Sorry, but that really made me laugh. You took your baby to the cinema and it was your crying that other customers complained about 😂😂

@GCAcademic yes Blush perhaps not the brightest idea when I was 2 weeks postpartum but my mum told me it was a great film and I had a spare afternoon 🤣 I rang her afterwards saying “what the actual fuck did you tell me to go see that for?!”

I thought it was 99% great, too. Also recommend it.
1% Part I don't like is how pretty the main actor was.
The actual guy the Lion story happened to is ordinary-looking.
I heard him interviewed long before film was thought of, he was kind of astounded at his own story, and all the interest in it.
I would have preferred an ordinary-looking not stunningly beautiful chap to play his part.

Real looks would have made his story all the more poignant to me.
NK & his difficult brother were good to watch, too, of course.

Dev Patel is a real person. I don't think it's his fault he's better looking in your opinion than the real Saroo 😂

I think he did amazing. I cried like a baby.

This is one of my favourite films even though it made me sob my heart out! I think knowing it's a true story makes it even more emotional.
After visiting India I can see how things like this could happen.
Definitely have your tissues ready if you haven't already seen this film!

Such a lovely film espically once ou know the ending! The last scenes where he is walking down the train track with his brother...

Read the book too. Cried at that even though knew what was going to happen.

LushAlice · 14/08/2022 23:29

Agreed… a wonderful true-life story, so heart rending.

BeaLola · 15/08/2022 00:18

Yes a very beautiful film, incredibly sad but also uplifting and amazing that he discovered his family in such a way - the fact that it's based on a true story is astounding

WibbleBibble · 15/08/2022 00:36

We watched this a few weeks ago when it came up on netflix, dh wasnt too bothered when I chose it but by the end we were both crying and he said he was so pleased we'd seen it. Well worth a watch!

Strokethefurrywall · 15/08/2022 00:37

I followed Saroo Brierley's story but I can't bring myself to watch the movie as Dev Patel reminds me so much of my brother who passed away.

I so desperately want to watch but I know it will break my heart a million different ways!

PoolSquid · 15/08/2022 12:49

It's one of those stories, that if someone had written it as fiction you would say it was too farfetched

Jazzapples1 · 22/08/2022 05:45

Captivating film, so moving. I watched it last night and now I’ve woken up and it has flooded my mind.
