Anyone seeing FB or instagram posts like this?

I'm in awe of some people being able to have the energy to do something everyday.

And it's generally things like a beach, NT properties, country parks, canoes etc.

Don't get me wrong - we aren't in everyday and weren't even when ds was a younger child but I just couldn't ever muster up the energy to go out and do something every single day. We loved days in the garden and watching films.

But these people seem to build dens, bake cookies etc even on these days but often do this alongside a trip to the adventure playground, then lunch out and then home to xxxxxxx.

Anyone else read them and be in awe but absolutely NOT have the desire to follow suit 🤣🤣🤣

Everything is low key here. A combination of health issues (albeit minor), car problems and hot weather, plus a young child has meant we have not done much at all. Yes, the dcs have been out on their bikes to the park, a bit of art and craft, paddling pool etc.

Also the combination of my current (hopefully temporary health situation) and two youngish dcs in the mix has not helped either in terms of low energy and getting them ready to go out and being particularly active. My youngest dc is the most difficult to keep entertained (starts school in September). Older dc much better at entertaining themselves. DH has been able to take a bit of time off fortunately to take them out and about as above.

I tend not to look at social media too much but after speaking to some friends recently, it is amazing how much they seem to be doing (they have slightly older dc). I feel exhausted thinking about it and no, I certainly don't have the desire to follow suit currently.

It's quite nice to muddle about but I am also looking forward to the Autumn school term starting and getting into a bit more of a routine (and a different kind of stimulation for dcs). I think it is partly because we are doing a lot of things at home that we did during lockdown and it feels like some of the activities are feeling a bit tired now.

I tend to see it on SM when I have have a quick flick to a FB to find info on groups we are on (Eg ds sports club)

And there's all these posts and I just think - I'm sure it's lovely. But seriously - DO NOT have the energy to be doing all that in a week let alone every day 🤣

It's possible that it's because ds sport actually has us up at 4am 4 days a week and 5am 1 weekend day we are actually just enjoying literally having nothing to do?!

Although my shed arrived today so I'll have to put together at some point!

That's an early start and yes, most likely has a lot to do with the way you feel! My youngest gets up early so I don't think that helps either. Older dc is fine - gets up, goes downstairs and waits. It will change when youngest dc gets older I think and there is more sleep in the mix.

I sometimes have a sense that 'I should' be doing more but actually, when dcs write about what they've done in the holidays, it can often be the small things and not the grand trips out that they write about. Plan to do some baking with dc shortly now weather has finally started to cooI down. My dcs particularly the eldest can be more creative when 'they're bored' - for instance they have read a lot more and completed several art projects, so it is not necessarily a bad thing to not be on the go.

Good luck with the shed project! I sounds like it will keep you occupied for a while! For me personally, there always seems to be something I can tinker with (if not doing housework - I've given up on a lot of it but trying to keep on top of the washing etc. Being at home a lot, we seem to live in a perpetually muddly house.
