Laminate and hard floor for crawling baby

10 month old DS has just learnt to crawl and we have wood floor in the living room and then laminate in the hallway and kitchen. We have one of those foam play mats in the living room for him but it's a large room with a dining area too so lots of space for him to move around but now he wants to be everywhere I'm just a bit worried about his knees getting sore since I can't just cover the full area. What do others do that have hard floor downstairs?

DS just got used to it. Spanish flat, tiled throughout. Leant to walk quickly!

Wood floors walking by a year old no issues

It was fine, put some trousers on him if you are really worried, but I found that carpet chaffed them more

We had timber floors throughout when the kids learned to crawl. They didn’t seem phased by them!

Same as PP's our downstairs is fully laminate and DD doesn't have any trouble.

The baby I had when I had hard floors learnt to crawl with one foot and one knee, may or may not have been related.

But babies pre-date carpets by a few millennia so I’m sure the baby will be just fine.

We have oak floors downstairs and quarry tiles in the kitchen. Wouldn’t cross my mind to adapt for my baby crawling. Parents had parquet flooring when I was a baby and my knees seem to have survived the experience 🤷🏻‍♀️

We had some large rugs, other than that nothing and the kitchen is ice cold tiling! However we have adapted for our lab so have some runners down now.

We had tiles throughout our flat and wooden floors in the bedrooms. We put a large rug down in the living room for him to play on so he wasn't sitting on a cold floor (and to hide the speaker cables) and let him get on with it. Don't forget they don't have as much weight on their knees as we do when kneeling!

We did absolutely nothing, they will be fine
