Ryanair refund policy?

Hi all, I think I know what the answer will be but Im being given different information from friends who don't agree with what I'm reading on the Ryanair website. I have a flight to Spain booked later today, I have tested positive for Covid this morning after feeling rubbish for a couple of days. Im not going to risk it obviously, I would never put other people at risk by getting on a plane however....what are the chances of getting a refund? I'm already sure is zilch but can someone put my mind at rest so that I can stop trawling the internet.

0 chance I think. Do you have travel insurance?

LaChatte · 11/08/2022 11:33

Even with travel insurance Covid is excluded from covered reasons to cancel, so no chance of a refund.

You will be able to change to different dates, but there's an admin fee.
This is why you need decent travel insurance! Then you could claim back from them!

My insurance covers me for Covid. Cancellation or treatment abroad. You just have to be careful when you buy it that it includes covid cover.

I booked travel insurance for a holiday in June and all of the companies on one of the comparison sites included Covid cover.

You should be able to get some of the taxes etc back. But when we tried it, the administration fee was pretty much identical to any refund, so e just left it.
Worth checking your travel insurance tho.

Thanks for your responses, really appreciate it. Unfortunately I didn't buy insurance, I really struggle financially and this was going to be the first holiday in years and it took me a long time to save up for the return ticket to visit my friend. Seems ridiculous now but at the time I spent all my savings on the ticket. Oh well, put it down to experience and just be grateful I don't appear to be too poorly at the moment.
