Is everyone entitled to 15 free hours for 3-4 year olds?

I had previously understood that if you earned over a certain threshold, you were no longer entitled to 15 free hours of childcare. However, I can't find this info anymore! Is this not the case?

I know the 30 free hours are only available to qualifying families, but thought the same was true for the 15 hours too?

Thank you!

I believe every child is eligible for 15 hours :)

15 hours for age 3 and 4 are for everyone regardless of earnings

And its not childcare so much as for the child to experience nursery and being with other children

Yes, you get 15 hours even if you earn over £100k 👍

Although... our nursery gives only a c.£100 reduction for the 15 hours for someone who attends 4 days a week. They seem to have all these clever add-ons and extras once the free hours kick in. I believe the government subsidy for the free hours isn't nearly as much as the parents would otherwise pay. Sigh.

£100 reduction a month, to clarify

Its for everyone but its 15 hours from the term after they turn 3 with set cut offs, so birthdays from 1 April won't be funded until the following September.

Findahouse21 · 10/08/2022 21:26

15 hours is also term time only so if your dc goes throughout the year, your setting may offer stretched funding which works out at just over 10 hours per week. But yes, this has no earnings threshold to it. Thank goodness, seeing as the way that the cut off for the 30 hour funding is calculated is bloody archaic.

freehours · 11/08/2022 18:24

It IS archaic! It should really move to a household income basis.

In Scotland everyone gets 30 hours, but I assume you are in England!
