Will I find 2k a month in this situation?

I need 2k minimum to cover bills, mortgage and food and maintenance of house.

I can only work 3 days a week due to personal reasons. I am worried I will lose my current job that pays much much more and I don’t know the landscape for lesser paying roles. Is this even feasible? I’m not sure what im asking really, just what sort of work could I do to raise this?

Impossible to say without knowing your background, qualifications or type of work. I earn less than that full time and it's a reasonably ok paid job. I wish I could earn that much in 3 days.

Well minimum wage is £9.50 p/hour so if you were able to work 24 hours a week (8 x 3) you'd earn just shy of £1000 p/month (on that salary you wouldn't have to pay tax or NI). Plenty of MW roles around most places unless you're about to say you live deep in the middle of the countryside with no car or are really limited physically (even so there is likely work around but maybe harder to come by). But to clear £2000 p/month net of tax and NI you'll need an annual salary of more like £30k, which on 3 days p/week is more like £50k wte, obviously that's a high salary but not impossible, what do you do now? What are your qualifications and experience?

Depending on your reasons for not being able to work more than three days (ie if it's due to a health condition or childcare or caring responsibilities) you might be eligible for some universal credit top-up of your income. You may also be eligible for job seekers allowance while you look for work although again depending on your reasons for the 3 days a week they might insist you look at full-time work. Turn2Us have an excellent benefits calculator.

Or can you look at other sources of income, let a room in your house to a lodger? Evening or weekend work, even if casual e.g. babysitting, cleaning?

Is this a general worry about job loss or specifically will happen soon? Surely you’d look at other jobs in your industry to see who is hiring and what they’re paying.

I’m on an hourly contract with my company, which pays 30% higher than staff. You could see if there is something like that in the short term if you did lose your job.

Why are you worried you’ll lose your current job? Is this just catastrophic thinking?

If you did lose your current job and needed a lower paid job, you would be forced to work more hours. So you’d need to find a solution to why you currently cannot work more hours.

Where there’s a will there’s a way, as they say.

Just put £2000 in a salary calculator, and to get £2000 a month, you have to earn approximately £30000, or around £115 per day. That’s £575 per week (approx), which would be £192 per day over three days. Can you find a job paying nearly £200 per day?
