Sheewee for festival

I'm going to a festival & will be camping with DH. In the early hour every night, I have to get up for the loo. The thought of traipsing across a small, very dark campsite, risking tripping over other people's guy ropes because tents will be so close together fills me with dread. I have been wondering about a sheewee type device (I could maybe just nip behind the tent to use it) or whether to buy some of those Tena pads that my mum uses, to sleep in.

Please share any experiences/opinions/ideas about sheewees or pads while camping. Also its a bit late now to buy off Amazon so where else could I get a sheewee?

Reading the first post I did think it might be easier just to buy a torch.

I practiced my shewee at home before a festival successfully, took it to a festival and peed down my leg
It's a bucket in the corner of the tent for me now

Don't pee by your tent. It will stink.

I used to use a plastic funnel sat on top of a water bottle, wee in the wide part of funnel, it goes into plastic bottle, lid on, job done! Mind you I was in my 20s then and more flexible than I am now.

The trick with a shewee is to lock your knees straight and stick your bum out like a duck, then wee won't run down your legs!

Bivvy loo. I just tried and tested ours at a festival. But buy cat litter too, as the crystals supplied are frankly rubbish at turning pee into gel. Some hopes!

I've always found getting to the loo at festivals ok at night- flood lit and busy 24/7.

Bucket (with lid if possible) with plastic bags lining it and then a couple of nappies in the bottom to absorb the wee. Tie up the bags and take them home in the bucket at the end of the weekend, assuming no rubbish disposal there.

Miles better than weeing down your leg, and no need to leave the tent. Not sure Tena are intended for full on wees, just leakage. Could go badly wrong!

Been to loads of festivals camping, Travel Johns are your friends.
I was in plaster for one festie and they were brilliant

Notjustabrunette · 09/08/2022 23:52

I have a shewee, like others have said practice at home first.
have been to loads of festivals in my time and have never had to pee into a tenapants. Torch to the toilets has always been the option I go for.

I was in exactly this position 10 years ago. Camping at a festival and not wanting to risk going across campsite to portaloo at 2am.

I bought a flexible Sheewee and it was really useful. I didn't find it messy once I'd had a practise but you have to use it with very firm pressure to create the seal with your groin otherwise it goes everywhere.

Cassette / chemical toilets as used in a caravan?

sleighbellsjiggling · 10/08/2022 00:22

Travel John and a few bin bags to despose of them. I wouldn't camp without it.

Workyticket · 10/08/2022 00:26

My go to is a Lenor bottle. I checked - they have the widest openings! Wee in the bottle, pop it in a drawstring back pack and empty in the festival toilets in the morning 😍

Travel John, potette plus or bog in a bag. Has revolutionised festivals for me! Have fun, we’ve been enjoying festivals this summer. So much better without the awful porta loo trip at 4am!
