I work in a school so get the whole summer off... which sounds great but I don't really enjoy it! I'm not good at filling my time and end up feeling depressed and lonely. My dc are 14 and 16 so can be left alone and mostly just want to hang out at home.

What do you do to feel fulfilled? I live in London. Thanks

swimming at the local pool

hobbies - painting / cooking.

inviting other families over for a meal / BBQ

decorating the house (most recently repainting the teenagers bedroom with the assistance of said teenager to teach them some DIY and make them stop looking at a screen).

at least one activity (museum trip / long walk / travel to a new bit of London) each week again to force the teenagers to get out of the house.

Thanks for this. I definitely need to find a hobby but I don't enjoy much! I wish I was creative.

Any more suggestions?

Declutter the house and take a pile of stuff to the tip. I'd love to have dedicated time for a clear out.

Personally I would be reading, crocheting and visiting some London museums. V&A for a start!

Loads of great theatre on atm, and you can get some quite cheap tickets if you book last minute and don't mind where you sit. I wanted to see everything at the Globe this summer but sadly haven't managed it.

A ride on the Thames Clipper (Uberboat, as it is now, is always a pleasure.

Hampstead Heath is great for a walk and for swimming in the ponds or lido.

People-watching from a pavement cafe in Primrose Hill used to be a favourite pastime of mine.

I miss my pre-kids London life!

I've found that term time only working can be lonely once the kids are bigger, especially if your DH and friends are all at work!

I read a lot of books and go for a lot of walks. I also do some bigger jobs around the house - de cluttering, touching up paintwork etc. What I should probably do is look for another job but I love the one I've got!

I can't imagine being bored in London!
Even if most of your friends/family are busy in the week, London is full of theatres, boat trips on Southbank, open top bus rides, free street entertainment in Covent Garden, beautiful parks to sit with a picnic, the list goes on!

I don't live in London, but visit every couple of months. I find it such a vibrant city! 🎶🎭🎡🏞
