Do you use a dog border service? How much do they charge?

For some time I have been considering starting up as a dog day sitter/overnight border in my home.
I would only take one or two dogs at a time.
I have recently lost my beloved dog and am not ready to get another yet but would love to open up my home to other peoples and care for them whilst they are away.
I never put my dog in kennels and I know they are not for every dog and many people like the idea of a home setting and just wonder if there is a market for this kind of service?. I have experience with dogs and was a dog walker for 5 years.
I am not sure how much to charge or what is the ‘going’ rate for such a service?
Is this a service you use or would use if it were in your area?

Midlands.
Between £24 - £30 per overnight, or per 24 hour period.
I only ever tend to use ‘hobby’ boarders, so taking one or two dogs at a time.
I’m planning on doing this myself next year when I have more space.

I use a boarder on SE London outskirts occasionally. He’s £30 per overnight which is very reasonable. He has about 5 dogs a time I think. Most London boarders charge more. He’s lovely!

The going rate here (SW) is £25 for 24 hours. There is a lot of demand and dog boarders are booked up far in advance. One of the women I use only takes 1 dog at a time (which is wonderful for the dog but obviously not that financially viable as a business), the other takes 4-5 dogs at a time and has her house all set up for this - dog gates, astroturf in the garden etc. They are both great and I'm happy to leave DDog there.

The lovely lady I use charges £27 for 24 hours. She does doggy day care as well, but only has one overnight (as well as her dog). So GrouchyDog gets to play with a few dogs during the day but then gets a restful night. It works well.

As I understand it you have to be licensed by the council and insured too, locally it’s£25 for 24hrs.

We have 2 people who have our doggo. One is doggy daycare and she charges £25 for 12 hours or £35 for 24 hours. We have a dog Walker too, she charges £12 for a walk plus fuel to pick up (£2.70) or £20 to have him all day. If she takes him just for a walk she picks up at 8.45 and drops off at 12.30 if she keeps him for the day she drops off at 4.30. She will also have him overnight for an additional £16 to the £20. hope that helps! We're East Midlands. The doggy daycare we use is expensive in comparison to some others but it is home from home for our dog and that's what we wanted!

We don't have darling dog anymore, sadly.

But when we did he home boarded with a lovely family, who were registered with the local council as a dog daycare business and it was something like between £25 to £30 per 24 hours.

We're currently away and the hound is with a boarder. She usually goes into kennels but it's a much longer trip this time.

£15 a night which is an extraordinary bargain TBH - they used to take more but now just have one at a time.

She is utterly indulged, 2 long walks a day, undivided attention, endless games of tug and throw, allowed on the sofa. She won't want to come home.

We chose to board her because of the extra attention and her routine stays the same eg nighttime in the crate.

Ours is £15 for a half a day, £20 for a full day and £25 for overnight if you collect them the following morning, there are small additional charges if you want to collect later in the day which varies by time.

Yorkshire

Price rise recently announced to £27 for day (7.30-6) and £35 for overnight.

Looks expensive compared to others on here
