London aquarium

Is the sea life London aquarium worth it? Has anyone been recently? I use to take mine when they were little but never really seemed worth it but under 3s are free so wasn’t too bad, now mine are all over 3 and £30 a ticket! Would cost me over £100 (that’s even with a free carers ticket for me) so is it worth it if you’ve taken your child recently?

Took my DD for her 3rd birthday in January.

Wasn't blown away. We walked though it in 1.5 hours. I guess with it being warmer now you have entertainment from the street performers on southbank which can add to your day out.

Kellogs have deals on cereal boxes currently for Merlin attractions currently

Took mine last year with club card vouchers. It was good but I’d have been disappointed if we’d have spent full price for them. They enjoyed it but we’re in there about 1 1/4 hoursa. So depends how easy it is for you to spend the money. If it’s a struggle for you to spend £100 I’d maybe suggest doing something else.

Thanks both I’m lucky I get a free carers ticket as dd gets dla so don’t need to pay for me but 4 kids £30 a ticket 😬 does seem pretty steep and I remember the last time I went saying to myself I wouldn’t bother again as it was so crowded and couldn’t see much without queuing to have a look but youngest hasn’t been that’s what’s made me consider it again hoping maybe it’s got better!

My children liked it but I thought it was pretty small and spent a bit of time going ‘but where’s the rest of it?’. I’d been to the Weymouth one quite a few times as a child and assume that one must have been bigger (or I guess as a child it might have just seemed that way). It is quite fun for what it is but expensive for 1-2h attraction.

We found it incredibly crowded. More worryingly, there was a false alarm fire alarm whilst we were there, the evacuation was really dangerous - a serious crush that involved DP having to lift DS up over his shoulders, we were so scared.

No one seemed to care at the time - we complained, several times, they didn't care at all. Obviously not complaining about the fact we were evacuated, but that it wasn't handled well at all - I really wouldn't go back. I don't think it's safe.

Agree with pp's. Went for the first time a few weeks ago with dd (4) and dragged it out for as long as possible (about 1.5 hours!).

V expensive for what it is! Lots more to do in London that is more child friendly (and cheaper!!!!).

DS went for his birthday, most of the photos make it look tired and a bit tacky, like a cheap seaside resort. They didn't spend long there and went to the museum instead.

Oh I will avoid then, dd has asd and would have a massive melt down if that happens and from what I remember yes it would be difficult to safely get out, think we will do London zoo instead

tiny and grotty. the poor penguins are in a basement with very little space or water and looked sad. avoid it.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 08/08/2022 13:38

I'd only do it with clubcard vouchers. It used to good when it first opened but I've been since and wasn't impressed.

DoubleShotEspresso · 08/08/2022 13:43

We have been with our SEN/Disabled child.
Was hideously busy do you don't really get to "see" the bits you'd like as you're constantly shuffled along.
All feels incredibly dated and yes penguins space was upsetting it tiny.
Expensive and didn't live up to expectations.
OP if you're able to get there cannot recommend Colchester Zoo highly enough they've fit fantastic aquamarine life you literally travel through, it's spacious , calm and wonderfully well laid out with great play areas and fun activities, also huge variety of animals. All feels a lot kinder and considered.

I found it to be very dated , too dark and a bit shabby if I'm honest.

Needs a massive rethink .
