What else after Cabin Pressure? At a loss….

We worked our way through Cabin Pressure CDs and have ordered JF double acts on CD / we have the JfSP via a podcast I think it is Cumberbatch or something but really need CDs for the car and car journeys. The children have loved Cabin pressure and beg for the CD so we need them on CD. I think I have all the Yes Ministers on Cd somewhere - something a very intelligent 15 year old and 8 year old can listen to (eg no swearing 🤬 please).

the JFSP you can’t get on CD I don’t think 🧐

Cabin Pressure in the car Is something they both agree on - a bit like Green planet on the TV and with such a large age gap usually they can not agree.

Lol! We are currently on day 2 of a long drive and I have introduced the dc (10,13) to Cabin Pressure. All good so far!!

I have a friend who loves CP so much that her daughter would have been called Douglas if she'd been a boy.

You can get the more recent JFSP on cd

Some of souvenir programme is on BBC sounds, the series recorded over lockdown is one of the best things I've listened to, I frequently go back for a re-listen.

Would they enjoy old recordings of I'm sorry I haven't a clue? (There's quite a bit on YouTube if you want to try before you buy)

Otherwise could you have a go at some audiobooks? -What is the 15yr olds set text for next year? I'm sure you've done Harry Potter but the Stephen Fry audiobooks are fabulous as are the Philip Pullman and cast His Dark Materials

Old Harry 's game

notprincehamlet · 07/08/2022 11:29

Tom Wrigglesworth's Hang Ups is funny and sweet

BlackeyedSusan · 07/08/2022 11:46

the current Friday night 6.30 radio four programme ?? (can't remember the name as I don't listen)

overitall1 · 07/08/2022 14:52

There was a very short series I listened to in 2017 was about a postmaster being sent to some islands - scilly isles?? That was amusing but seemed to be for only one series. Ah! on the Rocks - 2 series!

Fags, Mags & Bags is brilliant.
Also second the suggestion for Tom Wrigglesworth.

Hut 33 (set-up: Bletchley Park's most incompetent codebreakers) is pretty good.

Though perhaps depends on how much notice your 8 yr old would take of the character Mrs Best's saucy innuendos...!

The Unbelievable Truth
Round the Horne (some mild sexual innuendo)
The Write Stuff
Mark Steel’s in town

FadedRed · 08/08/2022 11:49

And there is always The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy series.

CatChant · 08/08/2022 12:20

Old Harry’s Game, Revolting People.

Now would also be a good time to get them to listen to Good Omens (the original, as written by the late Terry Pratchett and the currently still very much alive Neil Gaiman), as John Finnemore is working with Neil on the second 'edition' for TV now!
