Eat piercing at Claire's

So I was in town with my mum and we walked past Claire's accessories and I thought o I'll get my ears done for second time , as I sitting on the chair with 2 lovely friendly workers a girl came storming in and started shouting at me about getting my ears done there and I should get off the seat and go to her professional piercing studio up the street , the poor girls were really annoyed and I just felt like Im obviously a grown woman and I'm ok with getting the gun to pierce my ears 🤷 I mean I did it myself with a earring before 🤣 so my question is what is the worse that can happen , I know infection is common but really is that enough to scream at someone who made the decision themselves to get their ears pierced at Claire's accessories I just thought it was a pretty rude thing to do she actually decided to run into the shop to shout at me and the girls working and then she was so delighted with herself she actually physically skipped out of the shop ... It was kinda bizzard tbh 🤣 anyway I'll let yous know if my ears fall off 🙈
I was so embrassed as I didn't say anything but it happened so quick I just sort of went what ? I didn't even know what she had fully said untill after if that makes sense 🤣

I mean it is a bit worse to get them done with a gun and gun peircings do have a tendency to be wonkier.

But you are an adult- what did she think you would do, jump up in agreement and follow a strange screaming lady to pay her to do it?

Many moons ago, I had a job in Claire's whilst I was at uni and of course I was trained to pierce.

I've always found it a great talking point in job interviews that I'm a qualified ear piercer.

FWIW, my day job is nothing to do with piercing now. And I refused to pierce babies and unwilling children.

Pennythoughts28 · 07/08/2022 00:37

I thought that no way would I even go to her for it anyways , she was incredibly rude

I certainly wouldn't have gone to the crazy ladies piercing place after that tantrum.
I got my 3rd lobe done today at a tattooist/piercers and they felt fine pretty soon afterwards, whereas a gun kind of throbs for a while, bit like when you have a finger prick blood test and it feels bruised for a day or so, they do cause more damage than a needle but I suppose it's all about convenience.
I paid £25 today for both lobes, cheaper than Claires so thats another bonus lol

The earrings at Claire's for piercing are either stainless steel, titanium, gold plated or gold. They won't cause infections. Also the hygiene rules are strict. They also are not supposed to piece ears if the child doesn't want them done or us distressed although some parents ask them to break these rules. It is expensive but isn't all ear piercing? Shouldn't it be?

It's so much cheaper at a piercing studio ime. Takes a few mins so definitely shouldn't be as expensive as Claire's. They appeal to young girls because ther offer pretty gems in the earrings, whereas a piercing studio use a basic bar. But the bar is much easier to clean and far better for the healing process.

I had both my ear lobes pierced in Claire’s back in April, the girls were brilliant and informed me of everything. I have had no issues and my wife also had 3 extra piercings to fully curate her ear and they are fine too.

SwedeCarrotLime · 22/08/2022 14:38

Use Claire's if you must for lobes (although I wouldn't) but please do not get cartilage piercings done with a gun, there or anywhere. A friend has shattered cartilage in her ear from a botched attempt at a helix piercing.

Pennythoughts28 · 23/08/2022 08:51

I had same thing when I was nine , went to local chemist behind my mummys back 🙈 just an update one ear did get infected but I kept up with the cleaning and it's fine now 🥰

I saw a young girl crying her heart out and being practically held down in Claire’s the other day. It was horrible. My own dd had an infection after being pierced there. From now on we’ll go elsewhere!

PawsOnDraws · 23/08/2022 08:59

That's nuts!

I have no issue with Claire's and have used them a couple of times but that is disgraceful.

Pennythoughts28 · 27/08/2022 12:19

That's disgusting 😞

she sounds like a right nutter and an angry woman so I wouldn't let her anywhere near me to pierce me for that reason.
I would look elsewhere though as claires pricing is ridiculous, recently had teen dds done there and cost us over £60 for basic studs. I didn't realise we could've got it done elsewhere for less than half the price.

Milkand2sugarsplease · 27/08/2022 12:34

My choice would always be a needle but no issues with other people choosing a gun. My issue with Claire's is their lack of training. Watch an instruction video and off you go....

Pennythoughts28 · 27/08/2022 14:17

Mines was 39 pound x

Both ear lobes with the princess cut stainless steal cost me around £40 and my cartilage was £28

Beezknees · 01/09/2022 16:32

I'm heavily tattooed and pierced and would not go to Claires for piercings. Bit deranged of her to actually go into the store shouting about it though.

RaRaRaspoutine · 01/09/2022 16:43

Uh huh.
