I’ve got bloody chickenpox! Should I isolate from my baby?

I’ve got chicken pox. I didn’t have it as a kid and I’ve got it now and wow do I feel rough. I phoned 111 for advice but haven’t heard anything back yet and I don’t have anyone else to ask. The spots appeared yesterday lunchtime and I’ve been taking anti virals since yesterday evening prescribed by the GP.

DH has been looking after our 5 month old since. Chickenpox is contagious from two days before the spots appear, so she’s already been exposed, but by keeping away from her I could possibly reduce the viral load. But should I? What would you do? I’m desperate to give her a big cuddle but I won’t if keeping away from her means she’s likely to get less badly affected.

DS2 caught CP from his brother at one week old. The GP said he wouldn't catch it as I was bf but he did. A few spots and not unwell. Now 17 and he's never had them again.
Ideally, I would probably try and avoid exposing a young baby. Very difficult though.

Thank you. It’s not very practical to isolate from her, and god knows what we’ll do on Monday when DH needs to work, but I will if it’s the right thing to go. I’m just not sure what the right thing is.

I wouldn't isolate. Your baby is going to get it anyway from what you've said. It's going to be shit but at least it'll be over and done with!

Bless You xx
Chicken pox is awful in adults😢 I had it with my 4 young children over 30 years ago (I was totally covered in spots and felt the worst 😁) we just drank loads of water.. Caromile lotion dabbed on with cotton wool(sorry for wrong spelling) and we got through it..its awful! the kids were quite OK.. A bit under the weather and just itchy but I had a very high temperature and felt awful. It is really much worse in adults.
