Do you have a happy job? What do you do?

I'm thinking about jobs that are cheerful by nature rather than enjoying your work in a stressful role.

I work at something pretty hard going, even traumatic, and I long to spend my days doing something cheerful.

Ideas include working at a tourist venue like a museum or art gallery. I would have no relevant experience though.

I don't know where to start and whether I would regret such a move. Looking for inspiration.

I always thought being a nail tech would be a cheerful job.

It really is, I utterly loved it but it's mostly self employed and covid really did a number on the beauty industry.

Currently working at a budget hotel which is soul destroying awful, I miss my old job so much.

I agree with the PP that said working with your hands. Definitely not anything publicfacing. I'm a scientist and that's pretty good, I develop drugs for rare diseases and job satisfaction is high.

I teach young people to drive.
Its a very happy job. I get to drive about all day without being in a hurry. I get to enjoy the sun in the summer and stay cozy in the winter. Pupils are eager to learn.
Instructors wave at each other (we don’t all know each other) and at the test centre
instructors are really kind and full of advice.
Bad side: Filling up with fuel every 2 days is terrifying as the prices are so high.

This is so lovely 😍 I bet you're a great instructor!

Learning to drive was one of the best things I ever did. Gave me so much freedom, safety and independence.

I think who you work with makes all the difference, especially what the management is like. I'm on academic and the team on my current research project are fantastic. Also the outputs are socially beneficial and positive, its a problem solving endeavour. It's a very happy environment. But I've also worked in the opposite!

One of DP’s mates is a farrier. He absolutely loves his job. Travelling around the countryside in his van, working with horses, making sure they are sound and properly shod. The physical side of his job keeps him in good shape, and given the nature of his clientele, he has never been short of nice girlfriends. 😉

I don't get really get the people acting as "entitled" etc but maybe that's because I haven't been in the specific environments where people experience this. Generally I like people - and I experience people at perhaps their most challenging.

I understand what people say about management and colleagues. I work with lovely people however, but it doesn't change that at times the work gets a bit much.

Working outdoors really appeals but given how little motivation I have for gardening at home I'm probably being unrealistic!

Children are indeed cheerful to be around but (maybe because I'm a single parent) I think I prefer working with adults.

I'm a cat slave😹. I love my job - pay is purrs, leg rubs and being allowed to pamper soft silky bodies.
