How could I get to St Pancras Int'l for 6:30am on Sunday?

... from Woking?
I'm due to catch the Eurostar at 8am on Sunday and they want me there 90 mins early at 06:30. What is the best way to get there from Woking?
Thanks - Dan

Don’t even think about trying! There are local Premier Inns, Travelodge and an Ibis Hotel near by.

Not having a relaxed start will spoil your trip.

The best option is travel down Saturday night sleep at a local hotel and be refreshed for your 630am start of journey.

Cost up hotel versus taxi.

Pruella · 05/08/2022 06:24

I get early trains from there a lot for work and normally just do premier inn night before. There probably is a way of doing it on the bus if you really want to but it’ll be like a 5 am start.

MumInBrussels · 05/08/2022 06:30

We do Premier Inn the night before, it's much less stressful and you don't have to wake up in the actual middle of the night, especially on a Sunday... There's one just round the corner from st pancras station.

(I would allow the extra time they suggest, the queues have been pretty long the last times we've travelled - there might be fewer people travelling at that time of day on a Sunday, but there might also be fewer passport checkers, too!)

You could get the coach to Heathrow and then the Piccadilly line. I have a similar problem, booked when you only needed to leave 30 minutes and it’s now 90.

StarlightLady · 05/08/2022 08:23

First Piccadilly Line on Sunday is just before 6:00 am, l don’t think you’d do it on time. Certainly not a relaxed journey.

StarlightLady · 05/08/2022 08:26

Extra time now needed for border control and passport stamping. Welcome to Brexit Britain everybody.

Comefromaway · 05/08/2022 08:30

I agree, Premier Inn. We’ve stayed at the St Pancras one many times.

CredibilityProblem · 05/08/2022 08:31

Heathrow express runs every fifteen minutes from 5:15, so could get you to Paddington in plenty of time if a bus/taxi would get you to Heathrow, and Paddington to Kings Cross is then simple but it adds to the price.

Train to Waterloo and taxi?

LIZS · 05/08/2022 08:43

See earliest Sunday train is too late

StarlightLady · 05/08/2022 08:49

Almost no public transport is OK on Sunday in the UK.

geogteach · 05/08/2022 08:51

We did this last week. Ended up staying in 'hotel California' nearly opposite the station . We had thought of taxi to Gatwick and train from there but decided just too stressful.

Impatientwino · 05/08/2022 08:52

We have recently been sending a lot of people via Eurostar for work and all have reported that with the recent travel issues 90 minutes isn't really long enough. Lots of delays. I would recommend staying overnight locally if your budget will stretch.

Or YHA.

Second this! YHA king's cross is actually really nice!

Dd went on Eurostar the other week and had to be there 2 hours early. Though I’ve just thought she’s a bit dim and possibly thinks 90 mins is 2 hrs. 😂
