If you’re meant to do 5 minutes of something a day …

will it still have the same effect if you do it in 5 bursts of 1 minute? Or if you’re aiming to do 30 squats a day, will 3 sets of 10, spread over the day, have the same effect?

So...based on the premise that all regular movement and activity is part of the 80-85% of the time that you actually burn calories, and that workouts only account for maybe 10-15% of your total daily calorie usage, then I'm going to say yes, it counts either way. I'm not sure if this will still be correct if you had some more specific goal in mind though, ie to make a specific muscle larger or whatever.

not in terms of improving cardio fitness or exercise tolerance so the answer is either yes or no depending on why you are doing it.

Ah, and thank you also @godmum56. The particular exercise I have in mind is to target a muscle group. I do other stuff for cardio.
