I've started weaning my 6 month old with blended veg and I have been doing for over 2 weeks now but she's spitting it straight back out again as soon as she's tasted it but when I try her with blended fruit she eats it straight away🤷🏽‍♀️ any mums have any suggestions as to what to try with her as I don't want to keep giving her fruit but I'm just struggling to get her to eat her veg🤷🏽‍♀️ baring in mind my little girl has a milk and soy intolerance🥺

Also I prefer cooking and blending my own fruit and veg as I don't like packets due to salt and sugars and not knowing what's exactly in them 😂 (fussy mum)

It’s early days, just keep offering. Mine didn’t even show much interest in any food until about 8 months. It’s not really essential that she eats any of it yet. Babies love their puréed fruit, that’s normal. You could do some mashed potato with some veg mixed in for a more neutral taste. Or some porridge or weetabix. Or pasta. Fruit is super sweet and veg is comparatively quite bitter, so it might be more helpful to try more foods that are ‘in between’. Are you very keen for it to be puréed? You could just give her some whole cooked carrots or whole brocolli florets for her to have a play with. She might want to put it in her mouth if it has more texture.

I'll have a try of the potato, I'm overly scared that If I give her a cooked carrot that she will choke😣 I'm don't purée her foods so they are fully smooth I do leave some little bits in it🥺

Blended veg isn’t that nice tbh, she probably just doesn’t like it. Don’t worry, just offer lots of different things.

You could try some sweeter veg purées, like carrot, sweet potato, peppers, tomatoes.

Be careful with mashed potato and just give tiny spoonfuls, it can make them gag sometimes because it’s so thick - water it down a little maybe.

Does she have prescription formula? You can use that to make baby rice or ready brek.

Cooked carrot sticks are a good one, and big pieces of soft fruit to pick up, like melon.

Don’t worry about choking, gagging is much more likely and she’ll just bring it back up herself. If you’re not sure if it’s gagging or choking, just give a her few firm pats on the back.

Perfect I'll give them a try! Yes she has prescription formula I've tried the baby rice and porridge and the ones I've look at have milk and soy in them and she can't have them as she just reacts to them! I'm hoping to get her on the milk and soy ladder soon with the doctors to introduce her to them!

www.candgshop.co.uk/shop/foods/4-6-months-breakfast/baby-rice.html

You need this (or aptamil do one too). It’s just 100% rice and you add your own milk to make it (her formula).

For baby porridge, I just buy normal adult ready brek/smooth porridge. It’s 100% oats and you just make it with the prescription formula.
