Things to do with DC when it's HOT

We have a full week at home next week
Dc ages 5 and 7. We are generally outdoors a lot. Had 1 day out planned to a nice seaside town with a couple of fun things to do. It's going to be HOT abd the place is pretty spread out. I think I'm going to not go next week, as the dc really don't seem to cope well walking in the heat and being out in it for extended periods. But....what else? We live rurally, near a small town. Seaside is close so we could do an early/late beach visit to miss the hottest part.

We're not having a holiday so wanted to do a coupe of things but after a day out this week in the heat its not something I'm keen to repeat!

Any interesting woods near you? Always nice and cool, though maybe not that special if you go a lot.

Air-conditioned/cool trampoline-type place?

Museums are good in the heat, also anything that is stone built - like castles for example - or underground, like caves of some description. Woods and streams are good. A dawn or dusk walk in the woods could be nice - watch the sun come up and hear the birdsong.

Cinema - tend to be air conditioned.

indoor pool, or is that too everyday?

garlictwist · 04/08/2022 12:29

Where do you live that's going to be so HOT? I am jealous.

We do swimming weekly but actually theyd still be happy to go.

I'm on the hunt for sone different woodland/paddling streams, great idea. Also castles thank you.

Woodland paddling/streams is a good idea.
Do you have a water-park/splash park near you?

I'd break up the week with a couple of indoor trips - e.g. air-conditioned soft play/trampoline park/bowling/cinema/museum/aquarium. Then just chill at home and in the garden the rest of the day.

We don't, we dobt have much like that tbh. But I have remembered an excellent place, castle/,ruin, woodland walk and stream! Playground too for the morning before it's too hot.

We've started to do breakfast picnics at the park when it's hot. Get there for 8 and have croissants and fruit and then head home late morning when it gets too hot.

Sounds like that ticks all the boxes! Enjoy!
