Stay in your system for months after removal? It took me almost 18 months to conceive dc2 after implant removal.

Currently trying to conceive again after having the implant out in January ( wish I'd never got it back in!) and I've had 4 chemical pregnancies since. DC 1, 3 and 4 were conceived straight away no issue.

Has anyone else had trouble conceiving after the implant?

Thanks everyone

I fell pregnant the month after having it removed, but that was 12 years ago and I don't think it was as effective then. There was a lot of stories in the media about people falling pregnant with it in around the time I had it removed.

I didnt try to conceive after having it removed BUT i had awful side effects, heart palpitations, anxiety and insomnia for months. Started within a week of having it in and symptoms cleared up within a week of having it out. It was thw worst 5 months of my life

Had mine out in September last year, currently feeding 4 week old DC2

No, it wears off within hours/ days.

It wears off immediately but it can have a lasting impact on cycles, especially if you stopped having periods whilst having the implant in place.

I had mine in (2 consecutively) for 6 years and my cycles were wild, everything from 17 days to 50 day cycles, ovulation was irregular, luteal phase was very short, and we ended up somehow conceiving on the 6th month.

After pregnancy my periods are regular again now.

No. The progesterone is metabolised quickly and it “clears” your system within a few days.

I got pregnant within a couple of months of having mine removed.

OldGreyAppleTest · 10/08/2022 21:36

Generally it does not. I was pregnant within a few weeks of mine being removed.

neighboursmustliveon · 11/08/2022 23:48

I had mine removed quite a while before we wanted to conceive. I've just had it out again (don't want babies) and it took less than two months for my period to return.
