Hey - anyone driven & parked near Alexander Stadium in the last few days?

Is parking possible?

Any tips?

Thank you

these suggestions are really helpful thanks. Very difficult to know what’s best to do!

I'm at the stadium tomorrow evening and at the moment planning to get the shuttle bus from the city centre (won't have a car as travelling to Birmingham by train and staying the night). I got the shuttle bus from The Hawthorns to the Aquatics centre and that was pretty efficient. I feel like the shuttle buses may be more often than the train to Perry Barr but I could be wrong.

That sounds normal for the athletics stadiums I've been to, you always have to come down the stairs to ground level to get to toilets and food. A large football stadium like Wembley, or Wimbledon Centre Court, have toilets on different levels of seating, because they are more of a solid building with space for toilets on each level of the stands.

Yes totally; where we were sitting is a temporary structure put up for the Games.

I just wanted to alert ppl as (for example) at the gymnastics in the Arena, even from the very back row of the upper seating, we only had to walk down about 30 stairs to get to the corridor with loads of loos very near. This was more like 100+ stairs (from row W and then all the way down the scaffolded structure) to get to a few portaloos.

The PP who had loos in their stand was obv in the actual building. Just wanted people to know as I was glad I didn't need the loo; it would have been a good 10-min walk.

I second the suggestion to get off the M6 at Junction 7 or 10 and potentially park around the walsall area. The 51 or x51 will take you past the stadium although I’m not sure what traffic restrictions there are! My parents live there so that’s what we are doing tomorrow night! Hope you have a lovely time!

yes I am looking at the train (bu coming from walsall not city centre) and they seem to be half hourly. Which sounds like it might be very crowded!

Just a note for those with mobility issues going tot he Arena.

There is a short route from the station but you have to get a pass to go that way, I was in a wheelchair so they actually stopped me to hand over a pass.

At the Arena someone came to sit next to us, she'd not booked an accessible seat and her allocated seat was up a lot of stairs so they'd moved her to the wheelchair accessible spots.

I have to say the accessible spots were really good seats, you could almost touch the athletes waiting to play.

So if you have mobility issues do let them know.

Event he train staff were willing to get the ramp out (normally you need to give 1-2 days notice) but I can stand and walk short distances.

So it was fine! Fabulous morning. Incredible organisation. We parked on a road - a yellow jacket told us where was acceptable and it was sub 15 walk to the stadium.

We were fine at the Alexander Stadium this morning too, parked on a road about a mile away just outside the parking restrictions. We looked into various parking and train combinations (with thanks to those who made suggestions) but the train times didn't work very well.

Excellent, glad it worked out 😀 we are here this pm, ended up doing the P&R again but using accessible area and bus so it was a lot better for poor DD . Looking forward to a great evening

We had a fab evening last night. Got train in from tame bridge park and ride all fine. Dead impressed with the organisation.
