That will please my family, they aren't too fussy, that are filling, high protein and will be good for weight loss!
Also how many calories should I be eating to lose weight? I'm 5ft 1 and 10st 6. I've been exactly the same for 2 and half years and can't shift it!

The Slimming Foodie (first o e, the yellow on) is very good for family recipes - 99p on Kindle at the moment!

Sign up to My Fitness Pal (free version).you can enter your height, weight and the rate you want to lose the weight and it will recommend the amount of daily calories for you. It's also a great calorie tracker.

I use my fitness pal. It’s very good and once it becomes habit you quickly learn the calorie content of your most regular foods.

Stupid question but where on my fitness pal do I find how many calories I should have?

I wouldn't trust the calories MFP gives you, they can be stupidly low sometimes.

Google TDEE calculator and use on of those.

LilacLaurel · 03/08/2022 20:07

Sorry should have added and then put those calorie goals into MFP

Uwillbelucky · 03/08/2022 20:20

Make sure at least half your plate is vegetables.

cheeseisthebest · 03/08/2022 20:22

Ok so did the TDEE calculator and it says 1500 calories to maintain. Does that sound right?

I recommend the Pinch of Nom series of books. All recipes calorie controlled but also delicious. I've been inflicting them on my husband the last 5 months or so - lost a stone and a half and he hasn't suffered at all (note: I made more changes than just these recipes - better breakfast/lunch choices, focusing on protein and getting my 5 a day, paying attention to portion sizes, moving more, etc. Don't want to claim that my weight loss was just down to this series of books, but they definitely helped!)

HauntingScream · 03/08/2022 20:26

Don't snack.
Stay away from fried food and pastry.
Fill half your plate with veg or salad.
Fill a quarter with protein
Fill a quarter with complex carb or leave it out and have more veg.

What meals do you normally like?
I find it's best to carry on eating food you like but just make it healthier and don't have too much.

Thanks for that - just bought it.

Thank you. My husband doesn't eat meat which makes it harder.
