UTI - how often is "normal"

Sorry for the gross topic, and I know that really having any UTI isn't necessary "normal" since it's by definition an infection!

I had a UTI years ago (about 2015), and then one June last year (which needed the longer dose of ABs to clear). I've just submitted a sample and been prescribed the three day AB course again.

Is it "normal"/common to have UTI this often? I do appreciate some people have them on and off all the time and I don't really have anything to complain about, but I don't get why I keep getting the same thing over and over!!

Thanks for any advice on offer.

I get them very regularly, and had a horrendous bout at christmas that caused kidney stones (horrific!) my doctor has now referred me to a consultant. I lead a very healthy life, drink lots of water etc, always look after 'down there' and yet as soon as I'm a tiny bit run down, I get a UTI - i guess similar to how some people might get a cold sore. If it comes to the point you can't go about your everyday life, that's when you should get referred

@EnterFunnyNameHere well I’m on my second course of antibiotics for UTI so I’m throwing everything at it to get well and to avoid a yeast infection which I’m so prone to.

  • Invivo bio.me femme v (for vaginal health)
  • Bio-Kult Candea (gut health)
  • D-mannose (UTI)
  • Oil of oregano (natural anti fungal)
These are ones I’m trying at the moment. I’ve tried so many womens probiotics that have done nothing for me, Invivo seems to be better so far. A nutritional therapist can work with you to find something that works for you.

Thanks @ToastofLandon , I'll give those a look!

And commiserations @Lovetogarden2022, it really sucks when you feel you're doing all the "right" things but get them regardless

@stayinghometoday. Oh I've been many many times and been through a lot treatments . Including the 1 year of antibiotics another poster found working for them.

Mine has no obvious explanation I'm hoping meno pause will change it for me as so far only 1 this year.
