Me too! He is so kind, humorous, gentle, intelligent, modest, I read a (rather dry) biography and I think Pat Barker’s portrayal is very accurate. I re-read the books often and fall in love all over again. In my mind’s eye he looks like David Haig, possibly because I saw him as Uncle in Journey’s End and he is a similar wonderful character.

Agree with FitzChivalry Farseer (also Paragon, Brashen, Reyn, Nighteyes, Burrich). For those uninitiated in Robin Hobb books, two of those characters are not even people.

A lot of Heyer's heroes, usually the competent and amused by everything ones, not the misanthropic ones.
Lots of niche heroes from Urban Fantasy, especially those written by Helen Harper and Donna Augustine. Again, they're always very competent.
Captain Wentworth, both book and Ciaran Hinds.
Agree with the Witcher and film Aragorn.

Another vote for Cormoran Strike (I was such a fangirl at one point he comes up in my predictive text 😊)
