Potty training and car journeys

I've been looking on amazon for car seat protectors against wee accidents but when you read the reviews they all seem to leak.

Does anyone here recommend a car seat protector?

Can't directly answer your question but in case you didn't know, many car seat manufacturers do not recommend using these with their seats (as it compromises the fit/effectiveness)- I suggest check with your car seat manufacturer before buying one.

How far into potty training are you? If it's super early days then it's better to avoid the car where possible.

If not - car seat covers usually come off and can be washed or wiped down. We've previously sat kids on a reusable changing mat or a travel towel thing if we were worried about accidents. Or you could sit them on an unfolded nappy.

TBH with two kids my car is a health hazard anyway from old apple cores/biscuit crumbs/juice spills, a bit of wee is not the end of the world!

The close parent/pop in ones seem to get recommended a lot. We had one for the pushchair and I can definitely vouch for how well made they are, but it never actually got used for its intended purpose so I don't know how absorbent/waterproof they are.

I used to put a carrier bag under a towel or a night time bed pad in the car seat. It's waterproof and not bulky enough to compromise safety then.

I used to put a folded hand towel under them in the car seat. And take a potty/travel potty to use by the side of the road/in the boot if you have to stop quickly.

To be honest we never really had any issues with the car as I was pretty militant about a wee before we left and we didn’t do any long journeys until they were reliably trained.

And of course keep a spare set of clothes in the car at all times!
