Bringing siblings to hospital appointment?

Can I do this? Or is it still patient and 1 carer only? I know the answer is to ring the hospital but it always takes forever to get through and then you end up on hold for ages. Hospital is back to not having to pre book visits on wards but everyone over the age of 3 (unless they are exempt) have to wear a mask).

I wouldn't do this unless I was desperate but it clashes with a rare opportunity for an activity for my older dc. I've already asked to move the appointment and been told no. I've only got DH to help with childcare so either DH goes to the hospital with 9 year old patient and 2 siblings (aged 8 and 11) in tow and I go to the activity with the older dc or we cancel older dc activity. 8 year old has asd and 11 year old has adhd so I can't manage them on my own out somewhere although dh just about can.

Is there any further info on the appointment letter?
My children are seen at different hospitals and both still have a section on the letter that states if you turn up with a sibling you will be turned away and the appointment will be cancelled.

One adult goes to appointment with child. Others all go to actively with sibling / child?

Our hospital is allowing siblings in. But would your dh be able to concentrate on the appointment with the other two also there?

can one or both come along to the activity with the older sibling?

I don't think you can have the siblings in the room during the appointment, but if old enough they could wait outside in the waiting room.

Does the hospital or the hospital trust have a website that may advise you about this?

I've just checked the letter and it says no siblings. DH would rather do the hospital appointment than the activity as activity is longer and he is WFH (I am carer for the 8 year old). I may have to do the activity for the first hour and then swap with DH so I can do the hospital and then swap back again.

Can't your DH take older child and siblings to the activity, and you go to the appointment?

BigBunkers · 01/08/2022 14:32

Our letter said the same but I had zero option but to take a sibling and no one said anything.

One child, one adult. Could someone else take your eldest to activity or does a parent need to stay?
