I have £100 to spend, why can't I just spend it?

Over a year ago my employer gave everyone £100 in e-vouchers as a thank you. I still haven't spent mine. I have decision paralysis!

They can be spent in a huge variety of retailers - Amazon, John Lewis, M&S, major high street shops. Plus restaurant chains, hotels, cinemas etc.

I'd like to spend them on something I wouldn't normally treat myself to but I'm not finding myself drawn to jewellery for example. I'm also slightly fatter than I ideally would like to be so I'm not really buying clothes RN. I live rurally so the chances of getting to an actual shop are remote, making it harder to decide.

WWYD?

Nice pair of Bluetooth headphones?

Hellocatshome · 31/07/2022 22:03

Is there anything you would like someone to buy you for your birthday or Christmas? If there is just buy that.

I'd buy some extravagant kit for a hobby - my choice would probably be a set of wood-tipped interchangeable knitting needles or hand carved sock blockers.

I have the same problem was given £120 for my birthday... spent £5 on a book and haven't got a clue what to spend it on. Quite tempted to spend it on bills. Blush

A bottle of Chanel no 5 perfume.

Beautiful , a real treat, lasts for ages and smells divine.

Go on , you deserve it Smile

Cadot · 31/07/2022 22:11

I'd buy books!

I would but I would need to see things IRL/try stuff on. Which I'm struggling with.

I’d buy plants. Lots of plants.

Paq · 31/07/2022 22:18

Also, I meant to say I could also spend it in the App Store. Any expensive apps worthwhile?

I'd just use it to buy something I was already going to buy. Treat yourself later when you find something you really want. But don't wait around. They expire.

L1ttledrummergirl · 31/07/2022 22:19

I had similar but with £200. I bought material to make a dress, had a spa day with a friend and booked tickets for dd and I to a commonwealth games event to watch a friend compete. He's trained at the club she attends since they were children so we are very excited.

deedledeedledum · 31/07/2022 22:20

I don't understand the whole 'this piece of money' will be spent on a treat and 'that piece of money' will be spent on groceries. It's all money. Just the same money. It's a voucher so it's electronic money just like the money in your bank and the money you spend at Tesco's. Just use it and treat yourself later if you want

whereamu · 31/07/2022 22:21

Could you spend it on m and a food - have some lovely treat meals with it?

Lou98 · 31/07/2022 22:22

I would buy a nice bottle of perfume I think!

Although I appreciate that can be hard if you're not near shops to actually smell them. I'd Google the kind of scent you like and go from there

TimeforaGandT · 31/07/2022 22:23

Handbag? shoes?

OneCup · 31/07/2022 22:23

Hotel, show or restaurant for me!

Stripeyzebraz · 31/07/2022 22:25

I was given a similar £50 voucher by my employer and worked out that, if I topped it up slightly, it would give me free membership of my local cinema (with plenty of free tickets and discounts).

That’s a year of entertaining me and my family that I wouldn’t have had otherwise.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 31/07/2022 22:26

I had a love2shop voucher for my birthday and bought a really nice silver ring from H Samuel(£30)
I'd say choose something you just would never buy but would love
