What's making my 6 year old feel like this?!

Just after some advice really. My 6 year old was fine yesterday until around 4pm when he started complaining of tummy ache, and he's still saying it's hurting now. He's not eaten since yday lunch. No temp, covid test is negative.
It's right in the centre of his tummy, he says he doesn't feel sick. His bowel movement is normal. Has anyone got any idea what could be causing him so much discomfort? It's very unlike him to not be eating, usually if it was a bug he'd have been bad by now. The tummy pains are stopping him in his tracks!

I’d ring the GP tomorrow (unless he gets worse in the meantime) just in case it’s appendicitis or something else

boingy · 31/07/2022 16:03

I'd ring 111 if you're worried and want to get him checked.

Appendicitis can be central and cause nausea - so can hall stones.

Is he supposed to be doing anything tomorrow?

My dd used to get central tummy pain when she had a virus, there's some glands in the tummy that can swell when the body produces an immune response.

I'd get him checked out - it could be appendicitis in which case he'll need admitting and surgery.

imtoooldforthisshite · 31/07/2022 16:29

I second appendicitis.

One for your GP (or 111 beforehand). But, my DD had stomach pain with chickenpox (an hour or so before spots appeared). Also appendicitis or wind (which can be absolutely excruciating)

Unwavering721 · 31/07/2022 16:37

Trapped wind? Try cooled peppermint tea, works wonders for me.

If you can get him to agree to it, in between 'bouts' try to get him to lie on his back & you cycle his legs for him. If that's painful go to A&E.

Great thanks everyone. We have no plans tomorrow so will see how he goes the rest of the evening then get him to the gp if no improvement.

Appendicitis starts central tummy area and then moves to the right hand side.

My DD was 11 when she had it. She couldn't even stand up straight she was in so much pain with it. Only vomited once but complained of nausea, we thought she had food poisoning.
