We have been invited for a wedding & thinking of staying a few extra nights, any recommendations for things to see, do & eat.

Assuming you mean Mumbles near Swansea, definitely go to Verdis at the end of the bay down towards the lighthouse. Their ice cream is to die for, and they also do gorgeous cakes, foccacias etc.

If you've got transport, head out onto one of the Gower beaches - my personal favourites are Rhossili (although there are lots of steps down the cliffs) or Caswell if you want easy access.

Are you just adults or with children as well?

sorry yes I should have specified! Yes in Swansea & yes 2 dc (6,7).

Food - Verdi’s for ice cream (better than Joes imo), Castellamare for pizza, Copperfish on the pier or Fishcakes and Ale in Mumbles itself for fish and chips.
Walk along the pier, for beaches head to Caswell or Rotherslade; or if you have your own car and don’t mind a walk go to Three Cliffs.
If it’s wet and you have children go to the LC water park, or there’s a new climbing place called Flashpoint in Swansea. The Waterfront Museum is also worth a look and there is a food/craft market there on Sundays.
In Mumbles if you like shopping don’t just walk along the main road - there are some lovely little independent shops and cafes up Newton Road towards the castle, and further up the hill.

Rock scrambling at Bracelet Bay and walking up to the lighthouse at low tide.
If you are decent walkers, park at Southgate car park, walk to Pennard castle and then down the dunes onto Three Cliffs Bay. Coffee and cake in Three Cliffs coffee shop back by the car park.
Agree with Rhossli where they also have the sunflower field.
Caswell, Langland or Port Eynon for a beach day with the car.

Oh they also have Ninja Tag , near Flashpoint climbing if you need an indoor activity.
land train from Mumbles to Blackpill Lido which is a large paddling pool/ playground on the sea front.

FlyingFlamingo · 31/07/2022 16:46

Buses are also free Fri-mon in school holidays so you could walk along the prom/coast path and catch the bus back, or catch a bus into Swansea.

Definitely second Blackpill Lido with children that age. Plantasia might also be worth looking at if it rains - a combined glasshouse/mini zoo in the city centre. But if its decent weather I'd mostly make the most of the beaches.

Thank you very much, it looks beautiful.

I definitely rate Castellamare over Verdis. There are also some amusement arcades on the pier that my two always enjoy. If either DC is a girl there's a lovely fairy shop too- take your credit card! Lush place for a wedding- hope you enjoy!

Another vote for Castellamare for food. Beautiful food in a stunning setting.
I'm fond of Oxwich for a day at the beach if you have your own transport - a massive stretch of impressive golden sand. Also the King Arthur hotel in Reynoldston is great for food. But beware - it gets busy especially on summer evenings.
And the Gower Heritage centre is a great day out for children.
