Names that match (or don’t match!) a person or their job

Have you met anyone whose name was particularly fitting for their character or job? Or the opposite?!

We had a physics teacher called Miss Motion -which seemed apt - and the local shop keeper growing up was called Mr Smiley, which definitely wasn’t - he was a real miserable bastard and all the kids were scared of him. I thought it was someone’s idea of an ironic joke for years but no, he really was just poorly named 😆

Anyone come across any other examples or amusing name combinations?

My mum taught maths and the family surname is mathematical. That's probably outing enough as it is (everyone seems to know my mum).

My geography teacher was Mr Holland. My primary school police officer was PC Bluitt (sp?) Which always made me think of a police officer blowing their whistle.

bumblenbean · 31/07/2022 00:16

C Sharpe is brilliant 🎶. I think Phil McCann reporting on petrol shortage takes some beating 🤣

Had a patisserie teacher in chef school called Mrs Sweet. She wasn't sweet but her desserts were incredible

Had a geography teacher called Mr Fielding who was quite possibly the most stereotypical geography teacher to have ever lived. He was lovely though and I always felt a bit sorry for him.

Once knew a copper who's first name began with e and surname was clugh (pronounced cluff but be clue) . Always read his title Mr E. Clugh - as mystery clue
