Can't decide if it's time for my youngest...

What did you all do?

About 6 when she could count a little bit. About every 3 weeks we would walk into our small town, go round the charity shops and she could choose a soft toy or ornament.

We started when Ds was 12. Probably later than most

Eldest was about 6 i think and youngest was about 4.

From when they turned 7 for each of mine.

It was when they were able to understand the 'maths' of it....to know that different coins were worth different amounts...to understand if they spent X then they would have Y left.....or that if they saved x amount then they could buy y after z weeks.
Of course they would still be with you when spending and as an adult still have guidance.

I think it was when they started secondary school

Start of KS2, going into Year 3

My grandmother gives my DC (4) pocket money - at the moment we just save it for her. When she’s a little older and able to make more informed decisions I’ll allow her to spend her money on the things she might like

6 & 3. £10 a month each by DD. Started it to try and stop the whining for magazines and crappy toys everywhere we went and it largely works, they soon realised they were spending it really quickly with mot much to show for it so they now save the majority for bigger things they want.

Ok thanks all. My DD is just turned 5 and going into year 1. I think we'll hold off at least for a year.
